Duplicate Code problem. Exactly how fast does the support work?

Well, 2 days ago I bought Half-Life?. I went home intstalled it, made a steam account and then I entered my CD key (or serial number). After I entered it Steam said there was a "duplicate code".
So I went to the steam.support site and I did what this (http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=70) page told me. I sent that mail two days ago and I wonder now, how long will it take for Valve to solve this problem? Does anyone know that? For I feel a bit 'mistreated' as a 'honest' costumer who bought Half-Life? legally. I do not believe I should be waiting for days to have this problem solved.

This isn't a situation that happens regularily. Someone has apparently come up with your CD key either by looking at it or figuring it out. You will have to wait.

In my search for a solution, I don't seem to be the only one with this kind of problem: http://blogs.linux.ie/ungod/2005/04/13/half-life-cd-key-already-in-use/

Sure, they're probably just a bunch of whiners, but uhm, I really wonder now if steam will solve my problem... If, for exemple; my incident report is not send correctly (because English is not my native laguage, perhaps I didn't fully understand the instructions for sending the right incicdent report), shall they let me know it? And do they even bother to solve this?

But the biggest question... how long will it take for them to solve this?

Should be fairly quick, since you bought it, but getting nothing out of it.

Even a few days later now, I still don't have any kind of answer from steam support. Does anyone know what the reason could be for that?

Have you given them as much as information as possible? You need to give them pictures of the receipt, pictures of the CD, pictures of the CD-key, pictures of the case and (if applicable) pictures of your parrot. Ok, so I was just joking about that last one. :p

You also should include your username. Here is a link to what is absolutely required:

http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-bin/steampowered.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=294

"Please write your Steam account username on the quick reference card or CD Key sticker." <-- Important!

Also, say that English is not your native language so they know why you might not know some words. For me, it took about a week or something until I got back my key. Good luck!
