I've got an Optorite DD0405 I bought about a year and a half ago. I didn;t start using it until about a year ago. I was burning CDs last night and all of a sudden the burn process failed. Now it won't read any kind of media. The light flashes and I can hear it sort of working, but it's obvious the disc isn't spinning like it should be. I updated the firmware last night and that didn;t solve anything. Do I need a new drive? This is very important to solve quickly because I'll need a working drive for Oblivion. Thanks for the help in advance.

Edit: There's also a slight buzzing sound when it's spinning the disc

It's Screwed. It happens. Start shopping for a new one!

Does sound a bit dodgey.

How many discs did you burn before it died? Or how long was it burning discs for?

heheh this gave me the giggles:

"Optorite"

it should be Optowrong or Optonotsogreat ...yes, I'm easily amused

just buy a new one they're cheap

Might have burnt it out. Burning too much at once can kill the laser.

Probably be easier and much quicker to just go buy a new one... They're pretty cheap these days.

Ive had the same problem with one of my old computers, its F@#$, just throw in another drive, thats all I can tell you, worked for me :E
