Any thoughts on my not being able to install HL 2 from the UK single DVD?
I get continual BSOD's with a message saying that I have a PAGE_FAULT_IN_UNPAGED_AREA and a problem with a driver called tfsnifs.sys. A Google search shows this to be a Sonic DVD driver which I've upgraded to no avail.
When I put the DVD into the tray and close it, the DVD whirs a bit, the light flashes and Task Manager shows my CPU usage shoots up to a steady 51% - 52%. After 70 or 80 seconds I get the HL2 install screen: if I then press install, I get the BSOD after anywhere from instantly to a couple of minutes.
The Sierra, Valve and Dell sites are no help.
Any help or comments appreciated.
