DVD player / plugins / codecs

Right, please help me out here. I can't find a program that plays DVD's on my computer. I downloaded a couple but none of 'em seem to work. Help!

VLC media player seems to work decently for me... tends to crash some though

Are these programs region specific or doesn't that matter?

WMP doesn't have all the files need and I get redirected to a site that only has programs you have to pay for.

But Hazar's suggestion did the trick. Got a DVD running through that VLC Media Player. Thx Hazar.
