What is a good brand to buy? I was going to get Asus but they have been out of stock at new egg for a long time now, and then I was thinking about getting lite on but that are some asian company, and I heard they are loud.

Lite-On is a good brand
Samsung is a good brand
Sony is a good brand
Creative is a good brand

The list goes on.. find a drive you like, google it and read reviews/comparasions, check user reviews at newegg, once you're satisfied with its praise, buy it You can't go wrong

meh...I've never had a good experience with a sony product before (save the PS2).

I've had good luck with Sony, Lite-On, TDK, Pioneer, and Buslink.
I've had a creative Dvd-rom and it worked great. I gave it to my dad and he had the worst time getting it to run on his PC. It acted up all the time. Compatibility issues there.

Most of the DVD-ROMs say if they are compatible with CDs but this one doesn't,

Are all DVD-ROMs compatible with CDs or just ones that say they are?

I can't find anywhere that sells creative drives.
