Do any Americans have any experience ordering DVDs from Britain? I know that you have to be wary of the different formats. I was wondering if your DVD players can play DVDs from overseas.

Thanks

Most players are not region free. I believe some PC software will let you do this. My Xbox is hacked to play any DVD.

Some DVD players are multi-format, it will usually say on the box what regions they support.

DVD regions was the worst money-making capitalist crap ever. I mean, whats the point, other than making people buy more, or more expensive kit, when they dont need to.

British DVD's will be region 2 and PAL format. As opposed to the NTSC Region 1's in the US. I've bought DVD's from the US that were region free, they played OK. One was region 1 and wouldn't play, I ripped from the disk onto my PC and watched it from my hard drive.

You can...ahem...alter most DVD players to play any region. I would of course never endorse such a thing, but uh...a friend I have, found it useful.
