I just reda that Nvidia will come with the g80 in November,it will support DX10,but how much will these cards be?
much more then the current ones? :(
I hope not.

I imagine at first they'll be what most ultra-new tech would be, probably $450-$500. ATI should have something before long, as well, perhaps driving down cost a bit...

I'll tell you when they are for sale. =p

im sure it will be the same price as all high end cards have been when released. it wouldnt change at all just because it dx10.

My GF4 has seen better days, I've been waiting for DX10 to upgrade. The more I think about it though the more I think I'm going to have to completely start over and build a new computer ... the whole thing is just out of date. Seeing as I wanted to buy a PS3 sometime next year as well I need to start saving some cash up.

when they [and ati] launch dx10 cards, will they only start with a bunch of high-end models, or will they have low and medium ones ?

We will have to find out. When they launched DX9 cards they launched high, middle and low end cards. Except ATI's low end card was DX8.1 still. Of course we know the FX's were a flop once DX9 games hit.
ATI - 9700, 9500, 9000
Nvidia - FX5800, 5600, 5200

Man, if you had a 9500 Pro that was able to be flashed to a 9700pro...that was the best value ever. Infact you could still have it today and play games like on Source alright. lol

high end cards will come first and most of the time mid range will come the next month.

I remember those 9500s, good times. :)

Also, I was on of the lucky few who bought a GeCube 9800 Pro and it was basically just a 9800 XT so we got that bit extra for free.

I'm almost ready to get my new PC (Core 2 Duo, DDR2 and stuff) but I was going to go with a 7600GT but I don't know if I should wait and get a low or mid -range DX10 card.. :x

Do you think it's a good idea to wait for Vista to come out before you buy a DX10 card? There might be better/other cards on the market by then.

I'd at least wait until both ATI and Nvidia put their DX10 cards on the table. If you buy early you may regret it. Remember Nvidia's FX series in DX9? :rolling:

well direct x 10 wont be a huge thing until second generation cards come out. also i think they have learned from the mistake the made.

And there is also the fact that developers won't go full-tilt towards DX10 for a very long time...

I agree on both points. But what I was saying is that back then people who picked the FX cards (DX9) based on DX8.1 benchmarks and later found out it sucked at DX9 when more and more fully DX9 games came out. I'm not saying Nvidia might do that again, I'm just saying don't pick a card until you know the whole picture.

yes i know they totally screwed it with the fx series.

It'd have to be atleast over 500$ Canadian...

I dunno what the prices for cards are over at the US exactly, but I'd imagine something around

800-1000$ Canadian when first released... just a guess though
