Lies, they're samples from the DirectX SDK. The Direct3D 10 games look awesome, some cool stuff is being done with SM 4.0. The good thing about all of this is that eventually we'll hit a cap on how realistic game graphics are (some of the Crysis and Alan Wake shots look almost photo-realistic) so hopefully attention will be drawn back to actual gameplay.

I'm not sure whether all the screens are in fact DX10 ..I know for a fact that the Age of Conan screenshot isnt DX10 ..it's a screen from early alpha

It's cool that apparently the 360 vers of Alan Wake will look just as good as the PC vers :)
I didn't know Hellgate London was DX10.. Have the screenshots we've been shown so far been DX10? Because if so it hasn't been that impressive.
Didn't know Bioshock was DX10 either  Does that mean that the UE3.0 is infact also DX10 and not just DX9? Maybe it can compete with the CryEngine 2 etc then..

Alan Wake is the most visually impressive game on that list. But that one Halo 2 shot actually looked decent.

Halo 2 still looks fugly.

meh all the fancy graphics in the world wont make it any more/less enjoyable ..although halo pc does look like an after thought ..which suits me fine because I have no intention of getting Halo 2 for pc ..not shelling out money for a game that bored me to tears

Damn, Alan Wake looks hot. I was looking at teh wate rpic of flight sim x....I was smilling. don't know why.

Woah, Alan Wake nearly looks real. So impressive and to think they are only the first few games to use DX10 and multi-core CPUs, imagine what the games will be like further down the line. :|

Alan Wake was recently shown looking the same as in those images and was running on a Geforce 7800 Directx 9 card. Still these games do look good.

I thought Alan Wake was switch to a Dx-10 only game?

Nvidia DX10 coming this november, ATI after Xmaz

Valve will also be updating the Source engine once they get their hands on concrete DX10 hardware.

Where did you hear that? I haven't heard any statements from Valve vis-a-vis DX10...

I think DX10 is more about performance and efficiency rather than new visuals. If we have to believe Crytek (and Valve hinted to it as well) DX10 on Vista blows away DX9.

With more performance and efficency your allowed more visuals.

Personally, I think it's quite obvious. The question would be, why wouldn't valve look into getting a Dx10 Source Engine up?

Oh, I think it's obvious too. I'm merely wondering if they've made an announcement.

The final product might be as it said Xbox 360 and Vista only. However the build of the game that was shown as well as the images are from a Directx 9.0 versio of the game. I can also say that ATI claims that the Xbox 360 has most of the DX10 features in it. I have spent a lot of time at the Alan Wake forums and the developers often times comment on how the Xbox 360 version will look identical to the PC version.

Those Flight Simulator pics aren't screenshots. They're artistic depictions of what the level of realism they say they can achieve with DX10. Given that their DX9 screenies don't look all that great, I'm pretty confident they're over-estimating.

I don't quite think any of those are photo-realistic... They look good, but aren't photo-realistic :p
I showed them to a friend (who, admittedly doesn;t play games) and she was like "Where is that, it's beautiful?" and then I told her it was a game and she was a bit shocked.

So, yes, while not photo-realistic, we're getting closer with each generation.

I seriously cant wait. Dx10 is the biggest thing to happen in gaming for a while!

I wouldn't say biggest thing in gaming, but deff. biggest thing in PC gaming, yarr!

This
is rendered, it's not ingame. I'm sure the game won't look like that in the final product.
