dxlevel issue

I installed HL2 from Steam and upon first run it worked just fine. Then I exited the game and tried to start it again. Now I just got the dialog saying "Preparing to start Half Life 2..." and then...nothing.

After a bit of searching I boiled it down to starting the game with the command -dxlevel 90. It works fine, but now I have to configure the graphic settings EVERY time I start the game. Very tedious.

Does anyone know any other commands I can use to start the game with 1600x1200, 4xAA, 8xAniso, Full HDR, and Reflect All, so that I don't have to configure these settings each time I start the game?

What an annoying bug!


By the way, my specs:
C2D E6700
EVGA GF8800GTX KO ACS3 (1 card, not SLI)
EVGA nForce680i SLI
2GB OCZ PC6400 Platinum XTC Dual ch.
WD Raptor 1500
SB Audigy 2

Have you tried putting the dxlevel 90 command in an Autoexec file?
