source doesn't support dynamic lighting.

Add some static light to the map and look if the rope is visible or not

Source DO have dynamic lighning ever played de_prodegy isent those lights dynamic??

I see this is Counter - Strike : Source ... the ropes whont work as in H-L2 so look after a tutorial on how to do it in CSS

i already checked out a lot of tutorials and i have never been able to make a lamp hang on a rope, a can us ballsocket entitite but thats kicks a lot of options out for dynamic lighting.(sorry for crappy english i hope you understand the last phrase)

It's currently not possible to attack ropes directly to prop_physics, there's a workaround that is used in de_train and prodigy though. Not exactly sure what that is.

can you give me a link or something or write it yourself so i can do it right?!

For you sorry few who are swedish-impaired, here's a good tutorial (That works) on hl2 world.com;

As you can tell by my post count, I rarely post here. But I just HAD to post after reading "source doesn't support dynamic lighting." That is one of the funniest, and most uninformed statements I've read in days :rolling: . To the person who made that ridiculous statement: dude, Half-Life 1 supported dynamic lighting, LOL.

Holy shit, HL1 supported Dynamic Lighting? I didn't even know that!

Not that it's any useful, it runs your comp into shit, but still!

in de_train and the prodigy they use bals_sockets i gives an effect that looks like using a pulley constrin but i doesnt. the problem with that is that you need a model with a faked rope on it

Did you see it this time around?

i already saw it
and by the way it doesn't work . i can try to find a map for cs:s with that in it and i can try to decompile it that may work

Yea it worked for me too.. but i had a similar problem and figured out that it had to do with the parents of some objects / thingys

When I first came around the tutorial, it didn't work. Then I cast it aside and downloaded the example map.

There would be a correction to make in the tutorial. It's not clear in the tut if you need to put the lengthconstraint at the move_rope's position or at the keyframe_rope. When I read the tutorial at first, I did it the opposite of what was in the example map. Then I actually made the effort to UNDERSTAND the entities and the trick. Now I can use that trick on my own.

I highly advise everyone to use their brain! :cheese:

Why would you follow a tutorial brainlessly? It's there to teach you, so that you can do other stuff with the knowledge you recieve.

Anyway, I think it's pretty logical when you look at it. It IS clear where to put your lenght constraint if you use your brain.
