Does anybody know of any good games that feature dynamic mood music? I'm not talking about where the music is scripted based on predetermined events, but music that changes in response to your actions. For instance, if you suddenly start shooting or whacking a whole lot of bad-guys, then the music likewise ramps up its tempo or becomes more dramatic.

I'm just curious how something like that would be coded, or logically worked out. I'd be particularly interested in examples where it happens seamlessly within the existing music soundtrack and is done tastefully and artistically, without switching to a completely different song or something cheesy like that.

No One Lives Forever 1&2
Beat Hazard (works in reverse of what you mentioned)

AFAIK The Legend of Zelda series has a fair bit of dynamic music, mostly in the overworld levels, Hyrule Field and particularly the Great Sea.

If you're talking about Hyrule Field in OoT, then no.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Amon Tobin composed entire tracks for each level and broke them into 3 separate parts per level that changed based on whether you were sneaking, enemies were suspicious and if you're in combat/attempting escape.

It didn't really "change" the song playing just faded out while the "tense" loop played. That's not really the kind of dynamic music OP was asking about.
