Season 2 of the Dystopia Global League is taking sign ups now. If you're part of a clan who is interested in checking out how Dystopia plays in a competitive setting, swing by the DGL site and check it out.

Season 1's single elimination tourney went very well, giving all teams involved some excellent gaming experiences. Dystopia is truely a game which scales out extremely well to high level play. It's a totally different experience to the chaos you generally see on public servers.

It took me quite a bit of searching to find this set of rules. I thought I'd save anyone interested the unavoidable effort in trying to locate it and get an idea of how many players, etc. Dystopia plays best with at a competitive level. I posted it here so that we can discuss and give feedback in a more direct fashion:

"League Rules and Regulations
[Subject to change]

Glossary
HALF - One 20 minute round
MATCH - Two halves or two 20 minute rounds.
LEADER - Designated team leader in charge of managing the team and attending DGL meetings.
EXPLOIT - A bug in the game engine, physics, or a map that allows players and classes to do things that they were not intended to be able to do.

Player Rules
Players are required to take first person demos. This is not required if the server records a SourceTV demo of the match and both leaders obtain copies immeadiatly after the match.

Players are required to take a screenshot of two class models, a screenshot at the end of the match and a screenshot of the scoreboard before/toward the start of the match.
Leaders are required to take a screenshot of everyone in the game by typing 'status' in console then 'snapshot.'
Each team leader must save the round XML Stats.

Cheating/Exploits
Any cheats, including 3rd party programs, editing of game files to exploit holes, or the exploitation of known bugs (see below), is regarded as illegal.
Use of cheats or exploits will result in a ban on the player from the tournament, immediately.
If a player is found using cheats, all previous clan matches in which that player played are null and void and that clan will be restricted from playing in the tournament, until the start of a new tournament.
Use of command scripts is not considered cheating.
Any map exploits such as traveling to parts of maps not meant to be, using weapons, implants or any other qualities under a class that is not meant to be using the qualities or anything that hinders gameplay under an admin's discretion.
Scripts are legal. If you are unsure what is legal or not, ask an admin.
Custom crosshairs are allowed.
Models must be official Dystopia models, or league-sanctioned models.

Scheduling
Default game times for Sigma is 9:00 P.M. Eastern.
Default game times for Epsilon is undecided.
Matches can be rescheduled any time before the next round begins.
If matches are to be rescheduled, they must be done sometime before the default day, up to midnight of the previous day.

Sportsmanship
All members must carry respect for each fellow competing member, in-game or out.
Any member that belittles or demeans the league or official admins will be immediately suspended until further notice.
If a team/player disagrees with any ruling by the DGL, that entity is given an option to stay or leave.

Match Rules
If a team does not show up 15 minutes after the scheduled time, that team forfeits.
If a player from a clan uses map_restart, that clan forfeits.
The winning team will report the outcome. In the event of a tie, the team that won the first round will report.

In-game Scoring

1. Whoever destroys core first wins.
2. If no team destroys core, whoever holds middle spawn longest (in seconds) wins.
3. If no team caps middle spawn, whoever caps docks first wins.
4. If no team caps docks, it's a tie.
5 In the event of a tie a third round will be played. It will last the full 20 minutes, no stopwatch timer. The teams will play the sides they played for their first round.

In-game Identities
All players must play with their listed STEAMIDs from the official DGL Roster.
All players must play with their listed name and clan tag from the official DGL Roster.

In-game Rosters
Each team must have a minimum 6 players to play the match. It is suggested that a team have one or more backups OUTSIDE of the server, ready to enter incase of any circumstances where there are not 6 players.
If a team does not carry the minimum 6 players to play a match, that team forfeits the match.
To start the match, each team must have 6 players, but if players drop, the match will still go as scheduled. (IE: A team can end the match with 3 players) This is why we suggest you have backups ready.

In-game Communication
Any player besides the leader and in extreme situations, the scheduler, cannot use message mode 1 (mm1) at any time.
No players besides DGL Admins are allowed to spectate at any given time.

Sign-ups
Team leader or team scheduler must supply correct information.
No players may be added after the end of the first round dates.
No team may carry more than 16 players.

Variables
mp_stopwatch 1
mp_startdelay 15
mp_timelimit 20
mp_rounds 2
mp_friendlyfire 1
mp_autoteambalance 0
mp_maxplayers 14

Other
Abnormal situations that are legal in both the game and map, like boosting (allowing a player to climb on you) and use of furniture (to block, etc).
For any extenuating circumstances and further decisions, admin's discretion is final.
Rules are subject to change at any time."

- So scripts are legal, but to what extent?

- Without an mp_consistency style command how confident are you that HUD and Model "customization" will be rooted out effectively in such a fast-paced game? Have you considered the idea of compulsory screenshots being taken at an instant decided by a 3rd party acting in an arbitrary capacity? and if so, how would you hope to effectively regulate and police this?

At the moment, VAC2 dosen't do much to help protect against cheating in mods, and as such we don't have any methods to prevent against people altering huds, etc. In light of this we tryed to design the game so changing this sort of stuff wouldn't have any significant effects on gameplay.

Either way, we hope to get more support from steam in the future in regards to anti cheating
