I was reading about the history of Sports fixing when I came across a bunch of starcraft players at the bottom of the list.

I did a little research, and apparently over 11 gamers have been indicted. Some renowned and well respected.

A couple of players acted as the broker, throwing games for around 2 million won (I don't know how much that is in US, but I know it isn't a lot of money). Some of these players (who are still in their early 20s) are facing criminal charges and will be facing trial. Some others have all their achievements and awards officially revoked.

This is about a month old (but still an on-going investigation). Didn't see this anywhere else so lock if already posted.

It's funny though, all who were involved were non-protoss players, even those who were initially accused have been cleared of all charges (as of now).

I remember reading that South Korean E-sports stars really don't have fun lives, and are basically pressured constantly by their backers, playing every day in all-day shifts without ever really enjoying much of the leisure or wealth that is normally associated with national super-stardom. Maybe this makes them very easy to buy off.
