E3 2004, valve yes but no id software?

I dont think they will show up on e3 this year because doom3 will be released before the next e3 in may. and doom3 is the only game id is working on atm so they wont have much to show.

I can't tell if that is sarcasm or not... are you serious?

Wha? What was so incredulous about what evil said? It made sense to me.

aperently Doom 3 is planed to be released in april...

yes i am almost sure it will be here before E3 because its also supposed to come free with the new Nvidia cards. at least ID isn't lazy or lie.

This is why i posted that, it seems obvious that the game will be out before the E3. (doom3, not halflife2). otherwise id would have had a booth to show up their baby.
I do hope im right.
:afro:

The anouncement that Doom3 would be released in April was fake. Todd Hollenshead said in his .plan update that the official release date is still "When it's done".
Id Software doesn't pay too much attention to the E3 as they have their own QuakeCon event in August.

or maybe its real, but hes trying to say its not, after all they have wanted Doom 3 to be a "nice surprize" when it is released at least he said that in an interview. and the card its supposed to be bundled with is gonna be out in april.

It's kinda relief, that we know Valve is gonna show up on E3. Now we at least know not to wait HL2 for April.

By the way, have you ever thought it's almost impossible that HL2 or Doom3 sucked? Both of the games have been under development for 4-6 years. All that time can't have been wasted for a crappy game. Plus Valve was making HL2 for several years before telling anything to the public, so they didn't even have any pressure for gettin it to the shelves. And they still don't have.

What do you think?

Maybe the game was a platformer co-starring Lara Croft up until half a year before it's announcement :D

But no, I don't think there's a chance that HL2 or Doom 3 are gonna be bad games, at worst disappointing. But that is always a risk when people have such high hopes.
But Valve have their priorities right atleast 'bugs are easy, fun is hard' to quote Gabe I think.

But it's indeed a relief that Valve is gonna be at E3, and they're bound to have some new stuff. Can't wait :cheese:

I think he's definitely lying, and undoubtably lazy to boot. :dozey:

I gotta disagree with you there. The fanbase is going crazy on "WHEN IS IT GONNA BE RELEASED!!!???" (HL2) Preassure's gotta be through the roof, but it's kinda comforting to see that they are still yet taking their time to make it good. (kinda) :|

Maybe when the hype was going through the roof in September when HL2 was supposed to be released, Valve decided to delay the game to make it even better. I think we'll gonna get twice as good HL2 as it would have been in September (or December, what ever people prefer)

Not to mention that ID are also working on Quake 4 at the moment

Raven software are working on Quake 4. I wonder what other D3 engine powered games are in the works?

Hmm, I'm not too sure that you can link a Valve booth at E3 with any kind of speculation about the HL2 release date.

I mean, Valve has a lot more stuff to pimp than just HL2, there's TF2, Source licensing, and Steam licensing too. Heck, with Steam, Valve are almost becoming publishers in their own right, so... having their own booth at E3 is pretty natural.

Doom III is out this month, right?... that would answer the question.

*cough* Condition Zero *cough* *die*

Condition Zero wasn't developed by either of iD or Valve.

Ritual and Turtle Rock aren't exactly in the same league.

How come Valve have two stalls? One for Steam and one for HL2?

Just had a look at the floorplans, and one of Valve's is in Vivendi Universal Game's area, and the other is a meeting room.

doesn't id show under activision or something? cause activision is the publisher ya know.

If Far Cry is a system killer, Quake 4 will be a necrophilliac.

Eee. The imagery of Quake 4 is quite dark enough already thank-you-very-much.

Yeah I second that <shudders>

I want LucasArts there, repentant and humble and atoning for their sins.

Grr, stop posting things I was going to say before I said them :/ lol. Ya, I was thinking "Wow, 2 booths, this'll rock," then I saw "Meeting room..." Bah, and I was hoping for another theater and a demo room lol. Oh well, it'll be cool to go to the HL2 booth at 10am on Wed, go see Gabe's preview at 1:30, go to more conferences, then bum around the floor for a few hours 'till they kick me out. Rinse and repeat on Thursday and Friday heh.

Well, Todd Hollenshead and Tim Willits wil be making a speech. And, so will Gabe Newell presenting Half-Life 2!

Who? LucasArts fellows, I presume... If they announce anymore StarWars games and DON'T recant their cancellation of adventure games... Oh, their walking days will be well and truly over.

Dude they are from id. Willits is the co-producer of DooM 3... I will look for LucasArts. Stand by.

OK. Mary Bihr (Vice President) and Sean Denny (Senior Manager of Strategic Marketing). Both from Lucas.

<Hangs head in ignorant shame>
But whilst you're looking for LucasArts, if you wanted to, y'know, pick up a baseball bat or something... Y'know... No pressure.
