e3:Call of duty 2

as long as its less linear than the first. MoH and CoD were fun, but lacking a little something in the brain department.

Nice preview. I'll download the trailer when I'm home. I can't wait for this game! Release is Q4 this year, right?

yes, yes it is.

very nice!, the trailer was awesome.. ill add this to my 'gonna buy list' along with BF2 :)

Looks great, but not as good as i thought it would be. I guess my expectations were too high :( :bounce:

I just watched the Gamespot Xbox 360 unveiling, in which they stated that it would be an exclusive title... Can anyone confirm/deny that ?

well pc and xbox360, the ps3 wont be out for ages anyway so it cant really come to that yet.

I believe anyone whining about graphics can shut their mouth now. :D

That trailer was awesome. The Pointe du Hoc mission looks very cool.
yeah but im wondering on the actual gameplay of this mission, they basically shot up ropes onto the cliff and climbed up under shelling and fire, clearing the bunkers above i presume.

And after that they had to defend it against Gerry for three days. Expect a firefight like defending Pegasus Bridge in the first Call of Duty.

That trailer was amazing!

See, screenshots don't do some games justice, CoD2 is one of those games!

I can't wait!!!!! This will definetely be one of the best PC/Xbox360 titles IMHO!

Let's hope MP is good ;)

thats not omaha beach. its pointe du hoc.

Pointe du Hoc lies on the northern end of Omaha beach. It was assault sector Charlie.

theres no rag dolls? i want rag dolls!!!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe after the death animations they turn to rag dolls........................
i think that the should put death animations and rag dolls together.........
like if a guy gets shot in the head he falls over like a rag doll should but if he gets shot through the chest, death animations and then rag dolls.........
looks like an amazing game..... i just hope my 9800 pro, 2.8ghz, and a gig of RAM can play it nice like it does he original..........

Because there are no ragdolls, I will not even try this game.

No ragdolls, forget it. I may or may not buy this game after hearing that in 2005 there is still a game that doesn't have ragdoll.

Rag Dolls make games laggy. Do you honestly want 50 rag dolls eating up your CPU?
Besides, I would miss the violent death animations. :borg:

First of all, ragdolls are neat, they aren't a must-have factor in games.... A lot of the times ragdolls just make everything look non-realistic.

Secondly, there is a difference between real-time ragdoll (which is what most everybody has) and key-framed ragdoll. Key-framed ragdoll might be something they are doing for things like explosions, where they have key-framed ragdoll effects in their animation programs, so to you it looks like ragdoll, but it's just keyframed. If they add a bunch of these animations, you won't be able to tell that it's all real-time.

Plus I mean with ragdoll, you don't get the feeling they died, other than their body slumping. With their key-framed animations, it makes the system requirements lower, and also makes it so when they get shot they grab the wound, contort their face in pain, maybe wiggle around, make pain noises/animations, and then finally die. With ragdoll, it's shoot, go to dead mode.

This is one of those things in-game you won't notice really, but you guys simply hear "No ragdoll" and think it's bad, or they suck, which is really wrong to say the least. I'm sure they've experimented with Ragdolls at one time or another, and they probably couldn't get them working realistically, and obvoiusly if you want cinematic gameplay, you need everything working together beautifully. In a war-torn scene you don't want to start laughing cause some guy just is looking like he's trying to be a human table as a death thing.

/rant :D

The Forgotten Soldier

New York Times
"I don't think that anyone who reads [it] to the end will ever forget it."

this book is excellent, probably my favourite read ever, very moving, it tells the story of a half german/half french soldier who joins the the german rollbahm or supply force in 1942, he is involved in the relief effort to break through to the soldiers @ stalingrad, but he realises his effort are useless so with his friends joins the elite leibstandarte division(not ss if you're wondering) mostly coz he gts two weeks leave to go home before joining, its very brutal and poignant, his descriptions of the fear and carnage he went through is unrivalled. check the reviews as i dont want to post too much.

Stalingrad

by antony beevor, another great book.

Berlin:The Downfall

the fall of berlin, read the reviews again.

Russias War

Enemy at the Gates
not to be confused with the film, the film was based on a fictional book called war of the rats and was crap. this book is almost better than beevors, i like it more. check out amazon.co.uk as the books have slightly different names in the us. uk reviews are better too. :O
