As you can see the link below is the listing of all the companies who will be attending:

http://www.e3expo.com/exhibitors/exhibitor_list.asp

These are a few things of interest

Ageia Technologies Inc. who will undoubtly be talking about their new Physics card and its benefits. Strangely enough Epic, the company who will take this technology onboard for the upcoming Unreal Tournament are not listed, so if anything, they will be along side Ageia in the same booth.

Bethesda Software Inc. have not featured any video of TES: Oblivion, so its most likely they will be featuring that. But they have two Booths, so what will be happening?

Whos the Developer and Publisher for Duke Nukem Forever? because it looks like they won't be there.

Physics card?

Next they'll have matrix cards, for total immersion.

I suppose physics are really cpu intensive though, so it may warrant a new card if you want to see huge scenes of mayhem. How often will you have to upgrade it though to keep up with games, that's a question I'd like answered. We're already buying graphics cards far too often.

As for Duke Nukem (Taking) Forever, LOL. To publish something, you need a game first

I hope they have Team Fortress 2 there. It's been a while since we've heard anything.

Come on Valve, astonish us again.

Theres no point in having a physics card. Possibly a dual processor where one of them focuses solely on the mathmatical calculations that are required to run the physics.

Thats the idea of of the Physics card, it is a dedicated processor to relieve the strain on the main CPU.

The site is show below

This is a more interesting article on Gamespot
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/03/08/news_6119895.html

Current games running on PC systems with high-end desktop processors, such as the Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64, can support roughly 30 to 40 "active bodies," or physical objects that can interact with each other in-game. This limitation doesn't give developers much to work with in terms of physics simulation. Simulating a building blowing up in real time is impossible with such a small number of fragments, but increase the active body count to 32,000 or 40,000, which the Ageia PhysX PPU can handle, and then you'll have an explosion to talk about.

Oh shi*t, you should watch the Novadex vid on the second link

Oh ok, I probably should have read something about it then. Just seems like a lot of people assume it will be more like another graphics card rather than another processor.

Edit: That building :O

That water looked good, but it looked more like water on a very very small scale, where the surface tension makes it seem to act strange.

The technology will improve over time. So will the amount of bodies that can be interacted at the time. If you think about how many polygons you can get on one screen these days compared to 2000 for example, think how Physics cards will improve over a space of 5 years.

I would suspect that the reason the water doesn't look like water is down to the surface tension to a degree, but its also because of the amount of bodies the water is made up off. Water will look like water in about 5-7 years I expect.

I just worked out what that guy says at the end of the vid. The Ageia PhysX card will have an approximate price tag similar to that of mid-range graphics cards, so my idea of that price would be £100-130.

I've worked it out, I'll buy a new graphics card this summer and a PhysX card as a christmas present.

I just found out that Midway, the publisher for Unreal Tournament X will be demonstrating at E3, most likely to show the next in the UT franchise

So if I popped in one of these stinkers, I could make a for shizzle building fall down in HL2, even though the amount of physics objects that are being handled is way over HL2's "limit" per say?

Codemasters... Hmm, it's a 50/50 chance, but heres to seeing the second SHoWW2 on there. There have already been some demos done... It should be at E3

I saw America Online and had to stop, if someone who's going happens to accidentally bomb their booths, I would not shed a tear

phisycs card?

oh no another thing to ad to the requiriments of a PC game

We'll have to see. They said it will be on order with a midrange graphics card, and who knows what they'll say is midrange. It will of course drop way down in price before people start really needing them for games.

I'm pretty certain that ATi will be unveiling the R520 at E3 - either then or in the few weeks afterwards (analysts are saying it would be more likely for ATi to shift their proposed unveiling date to a few weeks earlier than planned, and unveil it at E3 itself).

I'm not sure about nVidia, they've got something in the works and they usually unveil stuff at the same time as ATi in order to keep their competative edge. They're more secretive with their plans though. Last I heard from nVidia was that the NV50 had been canned, although they are making a chip for the Playstation 3 that will probably debut in a graphics card around the same time as the R520.

One thing is certain - E3 this year will be unbelievably awesome for gamers everywhere. I just wish I could go there :(

edit: Just to add to speculation, you will see that nVidia have one small booth at E3 this year, but ATi have got one huge hall and multiple booths. I'd say something is brewing from ATi for E3 this year .... R520?? :imu:

Duke will be through take 2 if it is there. (apparently there is a chance so...)

Prey is going to be there, or atleast it should be... (under take 2 also)

and sure will cost a lot

There's an interesting article in this months Edge magazine about it, and they're predicting prices between £50-£100 for low-to-mid range cards.

I guessed it would be £100-130, still the physics chip will be useless on its own, I hope it can draw plenty more poygons so that I have a smoother playing experience when it comes to playing the new unreal tournament :smoking:
