E3 expanding in 2009

The live streaming press conferences have been great for a while now and online shops for MS & Sony have been good about getting trailers up and available. HOME too should render any format obsolete anyway if I can visit the show virtually from my couch.

That said, they should bring back the booth babes, let in the public, announce more quality titles, etc. It strikes me as pretty weird that Leipzig was the best games convention of '08 (imho). E3 and TGS were major let downs sadly. Maybe next year will be different.

Whether they expand E3 back to what it was, or create a new expo, there needs to be some sort of celebration/meeting/expo for gamers to attend themselves. While I personally wouldn't be interested, it's apparent that something like this would be a big money maker and draw a lot of people. Is this announcement essentially the indsutry saying, oops we made a poor decision about changing E3's format?
