I wonder if valve are making Team Fortress Source as basically TF2...i hope someone asks that. Considering CS:source wont be CS2 im sure TFC will just be updated.....could be a possibility though, but why in the hell do they want blue shift and opposing force over to the source? Terrible idea.

if you ask me, valve has made a cock up of the multiplayer marketing strategy. why? cos everyones confused. one site is saying valve told them cs:source will be seperate from hl2, another is saying valve told them cs:source is part of HL2's multiplayer.

i dont know what to believe. as for valve having all HL1 games ported to source ready for its summer release? well fine - but why only show a 10 second clip of CS...why not show off all the other ported content. i dont think any of it is ready to be honest.

i still think tf2 is a seperate game though, considering the amount of times theyve insisted it is going to be standalone...

TF:Source WILL NOT BE TF2. The pictures of TF2 from like 5 years ago were still drastically different from the original, a large change from TFC to TF2.

And the only reason people are getting confused due to the fact that people are idiots. Large amount of people see 'CS:Source' and go 'OMG!!1zzz!!!one!!!ewoneeo!!!!! DUDeZzz!!!! ITS CS2!!! DUDE ITSmsa!@LIKE SO SWEET!!!!!!'. Its not the gaming sites that are saying anything wrong. Its the stupid general public.

Most of the confusion seems to have come from someone misunderstanding what was was said which has caused everyone to get all excited and let a pile of crap labeled "RUMORS" to hit the fan.

Quite right, the information coming from VALVe about multi player or the ports isn't confusing. The only thing confusing people is the rumors. Just do what I do, ignore anything that doesn't come out of VALVe's mouth or is approved by them in the VALVe info thread.

Exactly right, from what i know CS SOURCE will be seperate and to pay for but not exactly HL2's multiplayer, but in a way basically yeah...im sure Deathmatch too, everyone else just assumes crazy stuff. I'm curious as to what TFC will be like but i mean seriously wtf is going on with TF2?

so are eurogamers right - that cs:source is a seperate entity from hl2, or
is shacknews right, that cs:source is part of 'the HL2 multiplayer?

Right. And how much of those ideas from 5 years ago do you think are still being used? For all we know, Valve scrapped the whole game 3 years ago, then decided to just remake it in Source and improve on it from there.

It'd be pretty nuts to assume there are are two parallel, simultaneous TFC projects. They'll concentrate their efforts on improving one version. Whether they call it TFC-Source or TF2 or TF-Shazbot doesn't matter.

Same with CS. Why would they work on two seperate CS projects at the same time? Just port the damn thing to Source and then improve on it over time from there. Call it CS-SuperBablazoJunior if you want. There's no evidence that there's some secret CS2 project going on that's a completely different game from CS-Source.

I believe it will just work as TF:Source, CS:Source, DOD:Source and whatever else coming after HL2. I have a feeling they might not have done much with the HL2 multiplayer and instead just bring all of those over as HL2 ships. Surely there is something screwy going on, like whats up with TF2...HL2 deathmatch possibly? So we dont know what to expect and i kinda wish people would ask those questions. It would answer a lot of questions.

Everyone is confused about what eurogamer said. I'll quote it: "When quizzed, he said that the game would not be a free update, but would in fact be released commercially via retail and for download via Steam at the same time as Half-Life 2"

You think there's a contradiction between 'cs-source is HL2MP' and 'cs-source will cost money'. There's not. There will be a singleplayer-only version of HL2 which will cost less than the HL2+MP version. So regardless of what the multiplayer is for HL2, you will have to pay for it. The eurogamer article also implies that cs-source will be packaged on its own, like CS currently is. There's no reason CS-Source couldn't be included in HL2+MP AND be available on its own for people who don't want HL2. They're selling a Singleplayer-only version, why not sell a Multiplayer-only version?

The statements are not mutually exclusive.

hmmmm..... i wonder what RC would look like on the source. Well the throwing blades would rely on the source now. If they make it on they make it on source that is.

RC=BadMod
RC-Source=Waste of Time

CS 1.x, CS:CZ, CS on Source, CS2

/me is confused...

aha i see...still, i think valve need to make a clear staatement about this to the press at E3...

That's certainly not a terrible idea, it's a great idea. Those games showed us the incident from another perspective. Granted, there were some mistakes in the 2 gearbox expansions, like the marines sudden friendship with the scientists, whereas in the original Half-Life, the marines shot scientists on sight. But it was nice to play the soldier, perhaps they'll add a greater teamplay element when they port it. Blue Shift was short, but enjoyable nonetheless...

When were the marines friends with the scientists in Op4? All I can remember is the scientist at the start who just saved your life, and the marines guarding scientists near the evac site: they'll even kill the scientists if you interefere or try to free them.

the only marine that was friendly to scientists was YOU alex shepherd.

the only time the other marines dont shoot the scientists and barneys on site is when your fellow marines realise the G-Man has screwed them over and has sent in black ops to kick their asses too, so they have to work together.

the best is the end nuke when G-Man just looks out the window and says....

"quite so"

what a nutter! G-man rocks my little world! hes gunna kick breens ass...

Its not your fault for being confused at all? Everyone jumped the gun and made their own conclusions ligtning quick. See my sig for futher elaboration.

Well, I reckon you got your power armour from the fat barney, and you pretty much co-operated with the black mesa staff all the way through the game. Even your squadmembers wouldn't shoot the whitecoat bastards.. Only time I saw some "bad blood" between the two groups, were at the Osprey evac, when the black 249 gunner pushed the scientist back into a small room, when he refused/couldn't answer his question.

Oh, and his name is Adrian, not Alex... Just wanted to point that out...

Adrian got knocked out before he got his orders to exterminate the scientists, hence you've got no reason to want to kill them on sight.

I'm presuming the other soldiers decided that saving their own skin was more important than their orders once they were stranded inside Black Mesa.

Hehe... You can presume all you want. I know for a fact, that the marines in Half-Life are different from the ones in Op4. I don't care if they are either friendly or enemy, as long as they appear the same in both games. (I do like the fact that they're exterminators though, and are sent in to sweep the whole compound
