EA CEO: games are boring people

EA...pff...

I hope they stop selling those damn sports games.

[edit] And this is coming from the guy who only became CEO in April, so maybe we should give him a chance. *crosses fingers*

For the most part, the industry has been rinse-and-repeat. There's been lots of product that looked like last year's product, that looked a lot like the year before,

And which industry dominating, multi-billion-dollar publisher has been the poineer for today's "rinse and repeat" industry policy?

Oh, hi.

I couldn't name an EA game that's hard.
Black & White? I can't even remember if that game is really hard. I just remember getting a bit stuck because an enemy village was well out of the way of my influence and I got sick of the game.

And EA are now, technically HL's publisher, and that's fairly difficult on hard.

A few levels of C&C3 are bastards aswell. And as a matter of fact, so are a few of C&C Generals'.

Stick it up your rectum EA and poke your own eyes out. I call bullshit on this quote, because nobody could be that retarded. EA of all people harping on about this? What a set of ****s. I guess Fifa 2020 is no longer on the cards huh? Oh, and what about Sims: Party Pack, all new additions! Includes green bathtub and a flower bed cover.

Riccitiello, close your mouth because the shit just ain't worth the stink.

title should be "EA CEO: our games are boring people"

I like and play a lot of EA developed and published games. That said I appreciate someone with some power over at EA talking out against it. I don't see why every is criticizing him if this means some change will actually occur, if it was anyone else we would all be rallying that he was dead on the money about it.

I guess it's kind of like George W. saying the world has become much too militant and we should all find alternate routes to bring resolution to global conflict. But shit I had to double take when I had this train of thought, if bush really did think this, and acted on it.. I would be damn happy.

Lol. Let's hope he's not just talking out of his ass. I won't be holding my breath (or... will be... wait, how does that go?).

I would call them a Proxy rather than a Publisher. But yeah I see your point, but just remember the PC and Xbox360 versions of Orange Box are under Valves devlopment control, and the PS3 version for EA. I wonder what the difficulty contrast will be between them.

I guess its good to hear they are changing their model. I mean EA has said numerous times they will cut down on the sequels and sports/movie games.

Have they? I only ever heard generic "We're gonna make our games better" statements in the past, and then when Spore was announced they said they'd spend more capital developing original IPs, which doesn't necessarily mean they spend less on existing ones. But this kind of statement, coming from a new CEO, might actually mean a legitimate change in direction. If he cuts down on the sports titles and directs all that funding to original games, I'm apt to do him.

They can start by releasing a new Madden, NBA, NHL, ETC, ETC every other year.

In other news; "EA Sports" have dropped the S from their name in a bid to represent their products more honestly.

John Riccitiello has been with EA before. He isn't a new face to the company.

He tries to link 'harder' games as being boring games. Maybe from a new gamer's perspective...
Along with criticizing "boring" video games, he added the game industry must attract the casual gamers by creating new sales tactics -- find an alternative to selling expensive games that are too long for many gamers to finish.
I would assume he doesn't want to take away the sports titles but wants more titles for casual gamers. Would that entail dumbing down existing series?
