While the recent news about the DLC outage finally ending for all users, it looks like another form of Rock Band may be coming to a more permanent end in the near future. It recently came to our attention that the Rock Band iOS app will “no longer be playable” after May 31st, according to an in-game pop up message when loading the app
Stay classy EA. I had no problems with Origin but these kinds of practices are making me weary of using any EA-controller service at all.

Shutting down services is hardly new for EA but complete disabling an offline app where all the data is stored on the user's device is a bit low.

What the ****? That just goes way too far. And makes no sense.

I read in another article about this that even Harmonix (developer of Rock Band) wasn't aware of this and has no idea what the reasoning behind it is. Whatever baboon is in charge of EA's PR department should be drawn and quartered. It's like they have a massive rifle aimed at their own foot and they just fire and shoot their foot to pieces every time it begins to scab over and heal from the previous shot.

Could be they were cheap on the licences for the song and only licenced them for use (even to paying customers) for a certain period of time. Also, I haven't checked this myself, but apparently they're still selling the ****ing app without a warning that it's going to expire until you actually load it up.

Wait, you have to "cancel" it still being available on your device? omg

I'm a vindictive bastard but I wish the policy would have lasted. The public at large deserves to be warned that EA is devolving into an entity that makes Activision seem absolutely angelic.

Speaking of, Activision is keeping a pretty low profile lately. I wonder if they're actually flailing or if corporate just learned to keep Kotick in his cage.

I assume their PR department just went around with a shotgun shouting STOP ****ING SAYING STUPID SHIT ON THE INTERNET while shooting the air.

Fortunately the ceiling was more than 5 feet away so the buckshot had no effect.
