EA suggests uninstalling critical Windows patch?

Found this, seems strange, for BF2142:

Players who have the Windows security update KB917422 installed may suffer from an application error when running Battlefield 2142. This error can be solved by uninstalling the KB917422 update.

Apparently it says it in the new BF2142 patchs Read Me? Might be just people picking at it now, not sure how vital the update is?

and inacurate. The patch has caused a conflict with the security update in some cases, and the only way to resolve this untill EA can release an upate is to uninstall it. Its not required to do this in most cases, and for those that it is conflicting for, they can use this workaround, or wait for an update, its up to them.

Look, I have no love for EA, but people bash them for the slightest mistake these days...

so in other words either use a workaround that may leave your pc vulnerable or wait till they've patched a game that was released ..yesterday ...ya I can see how after plunking down $49.99 I'd want to wait till they've patched the game ...hmmm how long did it take to patch BF2? or BF:V after release?

I cant help but feel that the only reason why people still defend bf2142/EA is brand loyalty ..any other product and they would have jumped ship a long time ago

Yeah. Sure, it started out good, I'll admit. BF42 was awesome, vietnam was pretty fun, BF2 had it's high point *the demo/first release..* but now...no..it was a steady downhill motion from the start, and they are grinding the corpse into the ground further and further, and people are eating it because it's BATTLEFIELD!

The only reason Im keeping BF2 on my harddrive is so I can play PoE2 and Battleracers.

Other than that, I still have BF42 and DCF installed for the real fun games..nothing like shooting down a Su25 that was bombing you with a M1974 Howitzer, eh?

my BF2142 demo crashes after 30sec ingame... I really hope this fixes the problem. Way to GO EA & MS!! :cheers:
