I've never been that into music. Sure, I enjoy it but it's never been important to me like it is to some people. I have some bands and artists I like but I've never bought a single album or CD (I don't download songs either, just so you know, the only music I have I ripped from game files).

Anyway, to the point, I was driving home the other night with the radio on and there was a rock and roll show on, specifically early rock and roll; fifties and sixties stuff and pretty jazzy. I had never heard any of the songs before and didn't recognise any names. After a while I realised I was really enjoying it. I was wondering could anyone recommend me some oldie rock and roll, songs or musicians/bands.

Doo-Wop is great. I especially like Roy Orbisons stuff. I highly recommend him. But also theres many great one hit-wonder songs too.

Some of my favorites (check them out at www.youtube.com):

Del Shannon
Tom Fogerty & The Blue Velvets - The Goliwogs - (eventually became Creedence Clearwater Revival)
Chuck Berry

I'm drawing a blank, maybe I'll put some more up later.

I love "oldies", and now that they apparently include '80s music, I can't lose. I've been listening to them for so long, I can't think of many specifically. Try Bill Haley and the (his?) Comets, Duane Eddy, Commander Cody, Elvis Presley (much of his music kinda stinks, but he's got some gems). Mule Skinner Blues by the Fendermen is weird (funny), but rocks at the same time.
