Earthquake Swarm Beneath Yellowstone

Earthquakes are a common occurrence in the Yellowstone National Park area, an active volcanic-tectonic area averaging 1,000 to 2,000 earthquakes a year. Yellowstone's 10,000 geysers and hot springs are the result of this geologic activity.

I wouldn't panic just yet.

I wouldn't panic just yet.

Harmonic tremors have started in the caldera and as is well known among vulcanologists and geologists, they almost always precede or accompany volcanic eruptions.

Harmonic tremors are a sure sign of impending eruption. They are a seismographic reading that indicate that magma is on the move. You can't tell how big an eruption it will be just by looking at graphic representations of harmonic tremors but they forecast an eruption with a high degree of accuracy.

I'm not saying a super eruption is in the works, but an eruption nevertheless is now more then likely eminent. It could very well be a mild event, so no need to abandon ship just yet, but keep an eye on this one.

Crazy shit mayne!

It's the Locust!

Somebody call overly muscualr men with chainsaws as bayonets!

Shit, super-volcano's aren't just bad for America, they are bad for me...

Also I cant see what Rakurai posts but I assume it was scary and full of news media fear mongery?.

I declare a national effort to remove the crust so that it won't be able to blow. It'll cost 800 trillion dollars and we'll move all the earth offshore and create a new country! A better country! A country free of 800 trillion dollar debt!

Wasn't this discovered a long time ago? Or am I just assuming that because I didn't bother reading anything more than the thread title and a few replies.

There's a key difference between "earthquake swarm" and "magma chamber", Sheepy.

/me stands on the West coast of Britain and waves goodbye over the Atlantic...

My mom's house is not on the West coast of Britain.

You are lying.

Wait, wut...

EDIT: Oh.../edits

Fix'd

At least i have nothing to worry about! In estonia there are no earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis or hurricanes. But we don't have nice parks either :(

And your stuck with the Ruskies as neighbours and lets face it, they got ****ing aggression problems.

And they seem to willfully accept levels of corrutpion and criminality that makes the American mid-west look civilized.

My condolences man, I'de take my chances with the Earthquakes.

United Kingdom.
But we have nice parks - Sorted.

You do realise the whole world would be effected by this if it erupted? The Earth would face a volcanic winter for years, killing off all vegetation and life.

Unless you have a bunker to hide in, with a decade of supplies. Then start decorating the inside of your coffin.

These sorts of eruptions have occurred in the past - not to mention the "dinosaur comet" which also would have blacked out the sky with dust in a similar fashion, and we can see that it didn't kill off everything. Humanity may be ****ed if the entire chamber empties as we are fairly large and weak creatures, but remember - Life finds a away.

Surf's up bitches! Get ready for some super sonic surfing!

/Wax's cock in anticipation of body boarding.

:naughty:

Black Mesa research....an escape attempt to another dimension?.

Hmm, with a portal gun we can channel all of the lava to elsewhere.

Thats not really your main problem, its the explosion itself, which will probably have about the same power as about 10 nukes going off at the same time.

I eat 10 nukes going off at the same time for breakfast.

<3 avoidist btw

It took me until this post before I realized that this thread was about earthquakes, and not earthworms. I think im going to go back to sleep.

i'm shocked nobody actually mentioned scalar waves.

just kidding clarky (if you're still here) :P
