East Black Mesa Help Needed!

i am at the start of CHAPTER 5 - BLACK MESA EAST. i go into that little room and get scanned, and then dr. eli goes 'i'll take you right now, i don't want to keep her waiting' or whatever, so the dude next to her walks out of the way so she can move, but she doesn't actually move and unlock the door for me. is this a glitch or something, and if so how can i fix it? any help would be appreciated.

it's definately a glitch, dunno how to fix it though. Is it a retail copy or a download?

restart the chapter in the "new game" menu, unless it's a knockoff in which case it'll never work

I'm not making accusations here, but If people want to download illegal software, why do they go to official forums to ask about the obvious bugs in things.

I have heard of people who bought the game and have had this happen.

i am at the end of chapter 7, and i am having a similar problem as in black mesa. the man who opens the door so i can speak to alyx over the radio, he doesn't actually move otu the way so i can get inside. i cant restart the chapter because this is right near the end.

Type in ent_remove in the console when you are looking at him
or else noclip past him
or reload a previous savepoint
or push him out of the way with a phys prop
or drop a grenade so he runs and takes cover
or type ai_disable in the console and then once more
or.......

well I could imagine that no clipping might not help, because you need to have the radio sequence with Alyx in order to advance, right?

look up the map name in the console - it'll say loaded d3 something
then type in the command to open that map cant think of it off hand
but many others will
check the search option for console commands

type "changelevel ......."
insert the level name after the command
you might need to type sv_cheats 1 first

you're sure you have a legitimate copy? i've never seen anyone have so many issues with a legal one

did the commands i gave u not work or did you get to the place every time and the same thing happened?

the noclip thing doesnt work because you still need him to work the radio sequence so you can advance.

maybe so, but the most i've ever seen one person have is one glitch, which was fixed immidiately by restarting the level, have you validated your files using steam?

noclip wont do anything cause you still cant advance in the game, it just gets you past the dude in the way and just bullshit and say yes my files are validated by steam

then submit a steam support ticket on www.steampowered.com - there's nothing more anyone here can really do for you

edit: hang on a minute... have you tried restarting the chapter? you say "i can't cause it's near the end" but surely replaying a chapter is better than not finishing the game?

Check the console for the latest map its loaded .e.g. d3_prison_04 or whatever. If you are right at the end of that map then type in the next number obviously.

If you are right at the end of that chapter which i dont think you are, you can unlock all the chapters my changing a line in the config file (search these forums for the exact technique) and change the 'xx' to '15' i think, or perhaps '14' i can't remember amount of chapters geez. Your pretty unlucky to get this twice.
