HL2 comes with an editing package, don't know how easy it'll be to use though.

Its very easy. There is so much freedom with models and all the other features.

freedom doesnt make it easy, but yeah, making a level will be no sweat, if you think geometrically and artistically.

There's going to be a book coming out about how to mod HL2, and the SDK well be much better documented.

But you'll still have to build a good knowledge base of exactly how games run together.

It won't be wasy but it your dedicated you can do it.
