I know this was posted a while ago, but I wan't to bring attention to it again. You can block the majority of all ads (not just pop-ups) simply by downloading and replacing your hosts file. The best thing is that it's not limited to IE, it will even block annoying ads in apps like AIM.

This site has good instructions and a fairly complete hosts file:

http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

In addition, to block pop-ups, you can download the Google toolbar at:

http://toolbar.google.com

Hope some people will find this useful. :cheese:

google toolbar is god, i may never need to access the front page of google again!

I would use the google toolbar, if my homepage wasn't google.co.uk and my rents hadnt got an ebay toolbar that i keep clicking on by accident :P

use mozilla :) I haven't had one popup yet.
Thats what I use, It is the best browser I have had in a long time.
I got it from D/l.com

I use Opera, it defaults to not allowing any popups but you can set it to only show popups in the background if you want. Mozilla and Opera are like 10 times better than IE.
