Eclipse freezes linux

I've tried running native eclipse which comes with fedora 4, but as soon as the welcome screen comes up it freezes my computer. I can't do anything but restart. I tried downloading eclipse from eclipse.org but the same thing happens. I looked at other sites for help and they're too complex for my linux n00b mind. Help.

Fedora Core 4 is the latest Fedora Core release... Eclipse is a highly modular IDE.

holydeadpenguins, I don't have any specific suggestions, but make sure your JVM is installed correctly and up-to-date.

I know this isn't really direct help, but I found that www.linuxquestions.org is a great place to get tips and help for loads of linux questions. I used it to learn how to use ndiswrapper to get my wlan card working. It might be worth a look if you have a moment.
