True, these seem much more realistic than most. These results remind me if these games were reviewed in like a year when other games have also come out. Just because they are the latest new thing with shiny new graphics everyone seems to think they desrve at least 8s. Really annoying when you just want to figure out if the game is actually worth your $60.

Someone(you know who you are) said none of the first games look any good and I said that every game release would likely get at least a 7.5 and most of them would get 8's and 9's, if not a 10. Told ya so. And I said this not becuase the graphics look good, but becuase they look like quality games.

You guys put no faith in the reviewers--who are no different than any of us. I should think they would be at least as good as us at judging a game. You guys act like they are all wearing "beer goggles".

I doubt reviewers really care how good the graphics are if the game sucks. I trust them to have spent at least a couple hours playing a game before reviewing it. Hell I've seen some reviewers claim things about a game that just aren't true, becuase they didn't spend enough time with the game to even know.

In a review of one of my favorite games; Colin McRae Rally 2005:
they said "there is no way to restart a stage mid-way through" Well no, not in the championship mode, only in the time trials and such.

Then they said,"the vehicle damage doesn't affect the performance of the car enough." Yea well you have damage set to easy mode. Select heavy damage and the car takes damage realistically, throwing parts, body panels, and steam from the radiator, the car will pull to the side... The car even stalls and you have to restart it if the damage gets heavy.

so reviews aren't always right on, but I trust them to be pretty accurate, and not a judgement of the graphics. But since everyone's opinions vary, to get the exact review, you are going to have to review it yourself.

I mean when you review a new car, you are obviously going to factor in the way it looks also. However a good car is a good car, regardless of how it looks. Same goes with games.

Yeh - it's their only 10/10 I disagree with

(but hey, a good review isn't always one you agree with .. which is why when ppl disregard entire magasines/websites due to one or two reviews it makes them looks like dumbasses)

They didn't rate Pariah either - which, seeing as it's a complete crock, isn't suprisingng

I buy edge every month and giving Half-Life 2 10 was completely wrong. Sometimes they rereview games. I really hope they do this with Half-Life 2 and knock it down. It doesn't deserve 10 imo.

Half-Life 2 has some of the most incredible things i've ever seen. Unbeliveable "OMFG THIS IS teh best game Ever!!" type stuff that was tainted with a few crummy parts.

I would have given it something like a 9.5 game of the year must buy
