Editing Tools for CS:S

There will be a number of differnt packages which you can buy when you purchase HL2.

Such as SP only, SP + MP, Special editions etc.

I know there will be 1 package which contains bonus dvd's and media...

Will this include a map editing tool, and heaps of textures ?

Also is that standard hammer tool for making maps for HL and CS going to be used for HL2 or are they bringing out a new editor specifically for HL2 ?

Iv never even tried hammer tbh, but I used to be spot on at using QERadiant so it shouldnt take me long to learn it.

Source will have Hammer II as its mapeditor, and it will be used by all Source games like HL2 and CS:S.
They will be a free download through Steam or third party websites. And Hammer uses the textures from the games itself so you have access to all textures.

Worldcraft 2.x came with Half-Life, so there's no reason why Hammer wouldn't come with Half-Life 2.

its just that theres a special edition for somthing like £70 .. so that must have a few DVD's full of media.. probably fansite stuff like Epic released for Ut2004 maybe?

They might add some extra textures and stuff for mappers to play with.. Valve did say that they want to make hl2 interesting for the modding community etc.

I'm assuming the post you're speaking of got deleted, since I don't see anything related to it.

Valve has said that Hammer II will be included with Half-Life 2. Now, it is less of a "map editor" and more of an all-around modificationo development environment. The screenshots make me drool.

I hadn't thought of that, what if they did include a lot of extra textures for those of us who buy the Collector's Edition. Heavenly.

There'd be no point in giving CE buyers extra textures. Anyone that played any custom maps made with them would also need them.
