iv been trying to do this for the past week and have encountered many problems.
i am trying to edit the CSS knife model to use my knife model instead.
the first problem seems to be with cannonfodder's decompiler.
the 2 joints for the knife(knife_parent and knife_handle) are in the wrong position but everything else is fine. i used the graph editor in 3ds max to move these joints for all the frames, so that they would then be in the right place(i thought).
but once i moved it into the right place for the first frame( so that it was next to the hand) when i scrolled through the animation it turned out that the animation was different than what it should be.
anyway, i exported it to SMD, compiled, and in HLMV i noticed that the animation i had changed had no animation at all and had a different orientation from the other animations.
so to test, i imported one of the decompiled sequence SMDs and exported it without editing at all. and i had the same problem as above.
so basically the decompiler doesnt seem to work and either the importer or exporter for 3ds max doesnt work too.
has anyone actually done this sucessfully? or does anyone have any ideas wat's going wrong here or what im doing wrong?
i know i normally answer these sort of questions but im really stuck here.
