"This is a wrong, harmful message that will not strengthen the Palestinian Authority. It will only weaken it," Likud Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu said Tuesday in response to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's decision to release Palestinian prisoners.

"[Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, also known as] Abu Mazen will be hurt by such a decision," continued Netanyahu. "Giving them guns and releasing their prisoners is a big mistake."

Olmert announced that Israel would free 250 Fatah-affiliated prisoners at Monday's Sharm e-Sheikh summit with Jordan's King Abdullah, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Abbas and, according to the London-based Al Hayat newspaper, the PA chairman had demanded that Tanzim leader Marwan Barghouti be included among the released prisoners.

250 Fatah terrorists released on the premise that they would not engage in terror-related activities... Oh my ****ing God. You know, I had my doubts about Ehud Olmert, seeing as I didn't know so much about his politics. But now I know why Israelis don't like him! Jeez.

this just in: Palestinians do something to upset Nemesis, the world reels in horror

OMG WONT SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN (not the palestinian children because they're all just terrorists in the making, instead of warm thoughts they should get poison)

That doesn't deny the fact that Olmert should be out of office. He's been nothing but the Israeli equivalent of Bush since day 1. No offense to those Bush supporters out there, of course.

"As a gesture of goodwill to the Palestinians, and amid an understanding of the importance of the issue of the prisoners, I decided today that I'll bring to the Israeli government at its next meeting a recommendation to release 250 prisoners from Fatah, without blood on their hands, as long as they sign commitments not to again become involved in terrorism," Olmert told the gathering at the Red Sea resort.
You guys really think that the situation can stabilise without both parties giving in?

Nemesis note very carefully that they are releasing fatah prisoners
Use your head and work out why...

Ok, your turn now: Explain what you are trying to say, but this time, don't be an ass about it and you have to actually say it.

Israel begins transferring tax funds to Abbas

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel said on Sunday it had begun transferring to the Palestinians some of the hundreds of millions of dollars in tax funds it had frozen for 17 months, hoping to bolster President Mahmoud Abbas while isolating Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said steps taken by Abbas to try to rein in militants since Hamas’s violent takeover of the Gaza Strip last month could also lead to progress on the diplomatic front, but he offered no specifics. ...

Olmert spokeswoman Miri Eisin said Israel was resuming the tax revenue transfers to the emergency government set up by Abbas in the occupied West Bank after he dissolved a unity administration led by Hamas.

“This is part of the new cooperation that we see as important for both sides,” Eisin said. “Israel is committed to working with the new Palestinian government. We hope that together they (Abbas’s cabinet) will be able to build a strong administration which will give them a better capability to enter into full negotiations.”

Israeli officials said the first payment to Abbas’s government would be at least $50 million, about a month’s worth of revenues. The transfer began on Sunday but may not reach the Palestinians until Monday.

Palestinian officials had no immediate comment.
