Who listens to electronica? I know there's lots of you. =]
Also, what subgenres are your favorite?

I'm a big IDM and drill n bass guy myself, but I fancy a lot of jungle, microhouse (or even house sometimes..), trip-hop (thanks crazy), experimental, etc.. Even some trance I guess.

Also, what's some of your favorite artists? I'm always looking for something new =]

I'm currently listening to Ken Ishii, Goldie, DJ Shadow, Plug, Clifford Giberto, and some other stuff.. My favorites are probably Matmos, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Squarepusher ofcourse, Boards of Canada, and the man.. Brian Eno =]

I like electronica but never know the band names ...hmmm off the top of my head ...the Orb, Orbital, Paul oakenfield, Dasfx ..and lots of others but I dont know what they are

I like that song that starts with a lot of bass ;)

I'm currently discovering Brian Eno aswell, he's got some great ambient songs and stuff. Same thing goes for Boards of Canada, I love most of their songs.

Heh yeah, alot of people are like that. I'm a big album guy, and it's how I listen to all my music, so I tend to be more artist centric. Good stuff btw, the Orb <3

Oh yeah, Eno is such a great ambient artist. But I also like some of his other more pop oriented work too. I always wondered about BOC, how they get such a warm, analog sound. So soothing listening to their synths =]

Yeah, Corsair and You Could Feel the Sky are really emotional songs yet so mystic. They're toying around alot with subliminal messages just for the fun of it, for instance in YCFTS you hear a guy saying "A god with horns" backwards, and if you extract the songs of a CD to Wav on the computer, the filesize will be exactly 666.0 MB..

I like the lo-fi sound they incorporate in general, it's like their songs are more than just.. music.

Oh yeah, that's probably one of the main reasons i've gotten so obsessed with everything electronic. There's something so otherworldly about it. Listening to BOC is like a dream. Electronic just takes me away. I used to be a huge classic rock guy, and I still love all the indie bands and stuff I listen to, but electronic... there's just something about it I truly love.

Edit: And I think some people don't realize how damn hard it is to produce electronic, of any form. Sure it's easy to click in some patterns and a synth line or two, but to make truly good and cohesive songs and music, it becomes amazingly complex. Even I didn't realize this until I started playing with Reason, and looked at other software packages as well (Reaktor, OH MY GOD). I'm a guitarist, and still love my instrument, but electronic musicians have my complete respect, no matter what genre they make.

Hehe yaaaaay! Someone not only has heard of him, but likes him too! :D

I bought Out From Out Where last month. So. Damn. Good.
Man's a genius, as is the rest of Ninja Tune.

Wuhoo, I've been recognized! :p

I actually started listening to electronica from the Matrix soundtrack - Meat Beat Manifesto, Rob Dougan, Hive, etc. I wonder how everyone else found this somewhat unconventional form of music?

Not sure how I discovered Electronica.. But it came as a byproduct of discovering Triphop.

I think it was when I saw the Matrix and got the soundtrack, Neo listened to Massive Attack's Dissolved Girl in his headphones at the start of the movie. Though, I didn't go more "into it" until I saw the musicvideo of Only You by Portishead and later on Special Cases and Butterfly Caught by Massive Attack. Needless to say, I was kinda hooked and as I discovered www.monkeyradio.org, triphop and the likes have evolved into one of my #1 favourite genres.

I don't think I've ever even heard... electromonica... unless you're talking about rave/ecstacy music? :p

Moby is definately electronic and he's all over the electroni map, Basment Jaxx is dance and house, as well as Daft Punk and Underworld.. It's all electronic, just varying forms of it. Good artists though =] I loved the latest Jaxx record
