Seriously, (I watched the censored-to-hell-and-back version of this, btw), this is probably one of the most freakiest and saddest anime I've ever watched.

This should give you an idea of what to expect:

Um... damn.

Heard this mentioned alot on 4chan and a couple other places. Heard it was a bit gory :|

Is the plot worth it? Struck me as a fairly typical emo-anime, beyond the rampant dismemberment.

Freakiest shit ever.

Plot is... fine (if you think beyond the rampant dismemberment). (Only watched 6 episodes, btw)

It has too much gore, yes. But it was kinda sad... I'm not very emo, but it was sad, especially at the girl-who-got-her-fingers-sliced (Nana) VS Lucy scene. Girl screaming for daddy to help and stuff.

Extremely gory.

I don't know if you could call it a "typical emo-anime"; it's rather sad but the plot's not conventional. That being said IMO it's not anything spectacular either. I'd say, watch it if you've got nothing else to watch.

If you watch this, btw, this may be the epitome of desensitization for you, apart from ogrish.

I hate it. It basically just go's like this:

Dismemberment, squealing, some more dismemberment, some more squealing, even more dismemberment, even more squealing in between.

The plot is utterly weak and predictable, and any emotion whatsoever that might build up for the main characters is destroyed in disgust at the needles dismemberment they commit or their squealing. At first it comes as a surprise, but later on you are like, yep she is hugging her, she definitely going to get blown up, and yep she's blown up. Ooh and that guy there is going to get it, and that one there, and definitely that girl down there.

Not to mention the plot is horrible overstretched, think goku vs Frieza 11 episode long fight, exept this is 13 episodes filled with dismemberment and squealing with a little bit of story that takes a backwards seat to the dismemberment and squealing.

So somebody tell me how much I suck and how I didn't understand any of it, and how it's a brilliant emotional cartoon.

Crazy japanese and their anime...

Lol.

People have different reactions to these things, I suppose.

By the way, the opening song really matches the atmosphere of the anime.

Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam

Et lingua eius loquetur iudicium

Beatus vir qui suffert tentationem

Quoniqm cum probates fuerit accipient coronam vitae

Kyrie, ignis divine, eleison

O quam sancta, quam serena

quam benigma, quam amoena

O castitatis lilium

Kyrie, ignis divine, eleison

O quam sancta, quam serena

quam benigma, quam amoena

O castitatis lilium

Unfortunately, I don't know latin.

I've watched some of the episodes and I think it is a good series.

Think I'll pass on this, just because of the gore, I prefer mine in moderation. Also anime screaming always kind of gets to me... "IYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUGGGGGH!!!"

Thanks for the recommend anyway ^_^

I watched it and thought it was actually pretty well done. Very gory anime yeah, but it's a sound watch.

Actually, there is no screaming, from what I recall. The guard units... just died. Except for that one who got away... until Lucy got to him... sat down in front of his terrified, parylized from fear, body... and just tore him apart.

This is Ep1, minus the story.

That was really hot, until her arms started falling off, then I felt sick.

Sad, indeed, I honestly cried at the end, Lucy was too awesome--- sorry, story bits. I saw the whole series, I love that show! It's nice that some one else has seen that show aside from me and my two friends.

Looks pretty interesting. Going to defenetely look into this. Gory Anime > all!

I might be more excited about that if I wasn't so sure they were going to get chopped off sooner or later :x

Only one girl dies in the series, from what I've seen.

EDIT: Actually, make that 2, another girl gets killed by SWAT. However, only one (non-naked lol) girl dies by getting her head chopped off.

EDIT2: Now, as I come to think of it, 1 woman is decapitated in ep 1, 1 girl gets headshot with a Famas (thats what it looked like), and another girl gets shot with 9mm.

EDIT3:

Yep here she is.

It ain't a whole lot gorier than GTA.

The manga is serisouly weirder. I prefer the anime.

Pft, my friend was watching it the other day. It didn't look all that cool.

I watched it primarily for the gore. The rest is alright, but nothing too special.

After watching up to Ep 10, this has become my 3rd favorite anime. Helluva lot better than that Naruto crap.

Elfen Lied is absolutely amazing. I watched the whole thing and am getting my own copy. It's gory, but that absolutely doesn't overshadow the story.

I held back tears at the end. I regret that I didn't let myself cry, actually, since it would've been the first good cry I'd had in years.

edit: Oh, and In Lillium is an awesome song, and the opening sequence has awesome artwork.

QFT! After watching more episodes this in my top 5 fav anime series. *looks on amzon to order the dvds*

.......

I just watched all the way to episode 13(The End).

;(

How do you put this in words? It's ****ing sad. The Supervisor dies with his daughter, and just. :(

EDIT: After reading the creadits, I have found out that the entire animation process was done in Korea.

I thought there were 15 episodes?

And a special episode.

Nanas so cute in the spec episode. :p

Ohh, right... I didn't watch all of the secret episode, doesn't it like have a bunch of story plot and details etc.?

Yeah, helps you understand, and clears a bit of stuff up, like why Lucy didn't kill the supervisor at the first episode.

I finished the series now and it is so sad. :( ;( ;( I'm still crying!!

I lol'd at the gore. I might watch one episode just to lol at the dismemberment, then i will never watch it again.
