When I first joined this board is was nice, but it has really declined in the last few months. Why?

Some web pages to other HL/HL2 sites are censored.
Needless spam.
No image signatures.
Very bad support.

I've been banned once for I don't know what reason, no one ever told me.
I know im going to be banned for posting this, so I’ve already joined another board.

If you're talking about the 1 website censored: hl2 world.. it's nothing personal, we don't censor the other sites in their network? So, why the HL2 site? Becuase it contained/contains beta content.

Needless spam? Is there such thing as needed spam?

Image signatures are an affont to mankind. And what's this about support?

Trinityxero, thanks for your post.

Just to clarify firstly the reasons why some (or a certain one, at least) HL2 site/s have been censored. At the time, we as a team thought it best to do so due to dubious content being hosted on this site which was a major channel for talking about, seeing and playing the stolen Half-Life 2 files which was a practise we weren't willing to back at all for obvious reasons. The next reason after that was because on a regular basis we were getting spammed by one of the communities with obscenities, their web address and I'm pretty sure I can recall some other unfortunate circumstances as well.

Though you may feel the boards are filled with spam, it all comes down to a person's definition of spam before coming to this conclusion. Our boards are one of the most moderated and organised Half-Life 2 forums out there where we pride ourself in keeping them as clean as possible. Naturally we understand that with such a big forum we may on occasion miss spam posts and other undesirable posts, we do have a feature of the forum called "Reported Posts" where all reported post requests are logged on a hidden forum for a review by the moderators as soon as possible. Roughly 90% of these are actioned within an hour.

With regards to image signatures, this has been a much talked about subject and as always we want to ensure we make the majority of people happy with the decisions we made. As I said it has been talked about and the decision was made, along with the community, on whether or not we should include image signatures. The opinion of the majority of the community was that we shouldn't allow image signatures. Most people find them annoying, and would rather not have them.

"Very bad support"? We have an extensive support section in our forums for help with matters with all Valve games and Steam. We're also extending that content into static content for our main pages. Generally people are happy with the level of support our community collectively provides on these games. I apologise if you don't feel similarly but there are plenty of other support websites out there including http://forums.steampowered.com/ and http://steampowered.custhelp.com/.

When you were banned before, was it from this account? I can't see any record of this happening in the past. We have a strict guideline of forum rules which we always stick to so you may have at some point been banned for contravening these rules, if not then if you can provide any further information to [email protected] and someone might investigate.

You must be visiting some very nice forums If you think the spam on this site is bad. Compared to many other Half Life and Non-Half Life forums these are usually moderated very well.

I think most of the people here appreciate that there are no image sigs. Don't you get tired of a page that is 1/3 images in sigs, on top of that, waiting the extra time for all of the sigs to load on the page.

Also, this site seems to have good service, questions are answered fast, I've had no problems so far.

So, in the end, you are an embarrassment to the Half Life community.

One of the reasons I frequent this forum is because of the quick, typically (not necessarily always) constructive feedback I see, and the lack of image signatures. Thanks, moderators, for not allowing them.
