Yes, we're late. But late is better than not at all. There's a new version of Empires out for all those who missed it, and it adds three new maps - Gauntlet, Valley, and Slaughtered. Empires is sort of like an FPS but also sort of like an RTS. Each team has a commander who orders his men around; each man is running about the place with a gun of their own. There are also tanks.[br]

Empires is super cool :D I love the Uluru shot, it looks great.
 
I played this when it first came out and it was rather interesting. Only problem was that it was super duper laggy in vehicles and in general, also had a fair number of bugs. How be the lag and bug count, much reduced?
 
It has, at least as of the last version I played, not sure which one that was. Gonna get back into it.

That third shot looks prontastic. I'm gonna be disappointed if it doesn't look that good on my computer, which it won't.
 
Just a reminder, unofficial hotfixes 1.062 are avaliable at the empires forum. Krenzo is working hard to get out a patch that addresses some issues in 1.06, such as comm crashes.

It's 1.063 now ;)

Will 28 players + 8 active vehicles at a ping of 80 suffice?
 
Indeed, Empires rocks.

I have this strange notion that it's the first HL2 mod to feature fully modelled/animated/skinned/balanced/de-lagged/crashed and brand new vehicles. Any other mods managed it yet?
 
my only problem with empires is that all of the explosions are the same (a limitation of source) and the weapons feel quite boring...the pistol has no recoil at all!

They fixed that
 
If this keeps getting updates, I can see it becoming one of the most popular mods on source. Keep it up :)

really? I just played 1.06 and the pistol still had no animation when firing, and all of the explosions aside from the artillery were exactley the same. It also bugs me that there are rocket trails at the end of the tank bullets....but these are all nitpicky things, the mod is fun, fast-paced and quite well done.

We're in the process of redoing weapon models and animations. The previous poster most likely thought they were in this version as it was stated they would be before we pushed them back.
