Employees flee Rockstar

*Irish voice*
Jesus, Mary, Joesph!

Will this affect GTA IV?

I thought they got paid to stay just awhile back... maybe these were the people that didn't get paid.

if it will affect GTA, somebody would be dead...

Well according to the website, the people who are leaving are Directors of Marketing and PR, and a Web Design guy. Not a single coder, artist, writer, or anyone connected to development (ok, I see maybe one).

So I don't think this will make a difference in game production. The people who left are very replaceable in terms of skills. Director (at least where I work) is only one level above peon so it isn't as if the CEO just up and left.

No problems, unless you own stock.

lol the PR guy left, go figure, that must have been stressful

Like a random hooker?

Yes, I think we should all be sworn in so that if this event effects GTA IV that we will all kill one random hooker.

Mmmm. People being stupid doesn't help him, i guess.

I still can't believe the ridiculous complaints over the hot-coffee mod. Everything you see know is just a knee-jerk reaction.

Mmm. Especially when porn is so easily avaliable over the internet. >>

I think it's possibly a good thing that they cut positions that won't have any effect on the games. That means they have more money to go around for more important things.

Rockstar folding? Fire everyone first. As long as GTA IV is good, they will be fine. Many companies have had legal issues in their past and keep on going.

Having people leave after a scandal is always good for shareholders. They want to know something is being done to ensure the relative success of their investment. Doesn't bother me. GTA IV will still be every bit as good as we think it will I am sure.

It's not often you see the makers of one of the most commercially successful games of all time needing to cut staff.

At the end of the day though mostly marketing people have left, not to sound too harsh on them but they're disposable. You want to keep your main development team intact.

Hot coffee is a sad blow to free speech for symbolic reasons, but let's face it:
all that the GTA series has going for it are the huge sandboxy maps, the parody radio stations, and a massive ton of controversy/hype.

The GTA series is overrated. If they didn;t make anymore I couldn;t be bothered to care.
