End of Route Kanal?

Ok I've got a question. I think I must be near the end of the route kanal part but i'm not sure, and i'm stuck. I'll try to describe my situation...

I've just finished the long air boat race-a-like thing where the plane is chasing and dropping bombs and everything else. I've raced right to the end and eventually the plane disappears and i'm in a sorta swampy area under a bunch of huge tubes. A metal fence blocks going any further.

If you get off your air boat thing you can climb a fence up onto a ledge. From there, you can hope down onto one of the huge tubes and take a little wooden bridge to a sort of little shack like hut stuck to a wall. There are a few of these little shack things stuck on the wall. Once you get off of them you can pull a little yellow ended lever and it activates a sorta brown metal drawbridge over some shallow water. Right infront of the drawbridge there is a bunch of metal put up vertically stopping me from going any further. I know im missing something stupid, I just don't know how to get past these metal slabs.

Anyone know what to do here? Thanks.

hmmmm im not exactly sure where you are can you post a screen shot?? Or describe it some more. I know if i see it I can tell you.

From your description, I can roughly guess where you are.

Near the yellow lever is a cage like container, which is attached via some cabling. Release the lever and the cage drops down. What you need to do is put enough weight into the cage to tilt up the drawbridge which serves as a ramp over the vertical metal slabs.

If you look up high enough, you can see something up on the ledges, you need to find a ladder near the tubes to climb up and get to it. From there on, it should be pretty obvious.

I guess the key to most of the puzzles in HL2 is that you have to look at them as if you were in a real world cos the physics plays a great part here.

Thanks Binks I think you know exactly where im at, and i'll try that out right now. I also just realized this is past the route kanal part but meh. Thanks for the help .
