After teasing players for a few days of with "The Frostivus" event, Valve have throw us a curve ball and instead announced "The Greeviling" winter event for Dota 2. Frostivus is cancelled! Greevils are taking over, destroying shops, stealing items and ruining our gifts!
The update is now live and available to play from the Dota 2 main menu. A new winter/snow themed map has also been added for both standard matches and Greeviling games. Work with your hatched Greevil you received at Halloween to fight the menacing hordes hiding out in their camps spread all around the map. The first team to clear 11 camps is the winner of the match and will receive some in-game presents for their troubles.
Your Greevil has transformed from more than a mere courier and now features abilities and attacks it can use to help you and your team mates win back Frostivus! The move sets of your Greevil is dependent on the essences given to the Egg before it hatched, allowing for a wide variety of classes and a new wealth of possibilities for combat scenarios.
Incase you haven't quite had enough of the weird giant mouthed beasts yet, you can also buy new Greevil eggs from the Dota 2 store, along with all items from the winning sets of the Polycount Contest. Before you head into the game, be sure to check out the new event trailer Valve released late last night. Now get out there and have some fun! gl, hf.
