Ending the game...

Right, I'm stuck.

What I want to do is make an NPC, who if he dies, causes the map to end. Also, if 5 min passes without that NPC dying the map ends as well.

Lastly, at the start of the map, how do I make a message to appear on the players screen? (this is probably fairly obvious, if it is just point and laugh at me.)

Use logic timers and I/O inputs with the map, to tell it to end

depending on how, you might need to do some coding, since HL/HL2 doesn't really "end" just the last map it runs is made to look like the end, nothing overly fancy. Then the credits, same probably.
