Enemy Territory 2

I'm a huge Enemy territory fan ...this is NOT enemy territory ...just has a similiar name but none of the same elements that made that game great are present

Game looks great. Cant wait for it!

5 different classes, including medics and artillery, series of objectives gameplay, XP, how is this not Enemy Territory?

I'm really looking forward to it, but I wonder how Quake-ish the game will actually be. This seems to be taking a more tactical and strategic approach as opposed to straight-up fragging.

ET: QW will be a fun game - but in a very different way.

The strength of rtcw and, to less of an extent, et was their excellently designed and balanced small/medium sized maps. Add the great use of classes and you get the best teambased shooters and clan games ever made imo.

Increase the number of players, add large maps and vehicles, and you always end up with massive BF1942 spam fests - this is always the case. Great fun on public server - and an excellent way to enjoy a few hours with your firneds, but not the pure teamplay experience that made rtcw and et amazing.

(ET was always going this way a little - which is why it was never the clan game that rtcw was ......... it's only popular maps, and the only ones used in matches, being the ones that were very 'rtcw'. It seems there's no rtcw left in et anymore now :/)

ww2: axis vs allies

quake wars: futuristic humans vs advanced aliens

I thought it was pretty self-explanatory

dont get me wrong, I look forward to this game ...but it lost some of it's RTCW roots

there are some gameplay links though cptstern

and those screenshots were the best looking of E3, fk killzone 2 - it wasnt even real ;)

It's in the sucky quake universe. OMG STROGGS!!

Lame.

Will it still be free?!

If I hear that one more time, I'm gonna crack. Do you people have no notion of money involved in making a game? ET was only slightly changed from an already existant one, there building an entire game from scratch here. It takes MONEY, and it takes PEOPLE.

ET played more like an arcade game than a WW2 game to me. Thompson that shoots 2 bullets per seconds and takes 3 headshots to kill someone? How is that anywhere close to WW2? Sure, it's skin and modeled after a WWII weapon, but if you played ET to relive the 1940s in Europe, you're playing the wrong game. There's CoD and Brothers In Arms for that. And since when was a game solely based on it's graphics and not its gameplay? I agree with "Cons Himself", there are some gameplay links, and you can't ignore those.

That's not necessarily true, in the most recent interview the developer says "Oh yeah, this is pure in-game gameplay. This isn't CGI". But yeah, QW looks better than Q4 in my opinion. UT 2007 had better graphics though, but it's coming out a year later.

Good, that way I dont have to play with whiners like you if you don't buy the game. The problem takes care of itself.

Okay, but this isnt' a sequel to RTCW. They're making a sequel for RTCW but neither Splash Damage nor ID is responsible, and they didn't even announce it at E3.

About your second point, I can see why you'd think it'd turn into a spam fest, but what greatly differs between BF1942 and ET is that ET has series of precise objective. First dynamite this, then build this, then dynamite some more so you can win the game, etc... Acoording to the developers, that part of the gameplay is staying. That means the maps linearity will prevent vehicle spamming all across the map, since you'll still have to focus on objectives.

How can you make that conclusion? From the screenshot? :P

That's the end of my rant. Sorry if I sounded angry or offensive anywhere above, I still love all of you.

Yeah...but...
Will it be free?! :bounce:

The screenshots. The video. The indescribable "vibe" I've gotten from it so far.

Not that I'm against it or anything. It just seems different from what I'd expect.

No. Why would it be?

No. Why would it be?
Well RTCW: ET was free...

It looks great. I just hope it will tend a bit more to tactical gameplay, than run-and-gun.

Okay, for all those with an IQ of below 47:

RTCW: ET was free for the following reasons:

-It was already built off of a pre-existing game.
-Contained very little new non-gameplay related content.
-That means no big changes in models, skins, etc...
-And it didn't even have that much gameplay change.
-Was deemed unfit for sale some time after development.
-It was supposed to be a 30 dollar expansion pack anyways.

Do any of these apply to Quake Wars?

Please have at least SOME common sense, how the hell are these people going to make money to feed and clothes their children by spending their life making a new game for free?

Why? That's what ET is all about...

ut is slow compared to quake....well quakeworld was the fastest game ever

quake 3 wasnt too slow either

UT2k4 is slooowwww... It's not necessarily a bad thing, but go play ET for 20 minutes, then go play UT. You basicly crawl everywhere.

sure it was arcadey ..the medics reviving dead soldiers with syringes was a dead give away

the objectives, voice commands, classes and even gameplay suited the ww2 setting ..sure it wasnt an authentic experience but what multiplayer game is?

besides the classes I dont see too many similiarities between et and et2 ..that said, it doesnt mean et2 wont distinguish itself in other ways

thats like saying theres not many simmilarities between TFC and Quakeworld TF (TF1 for the slow) aside from the classes.

the class system is what MAKES the game.

Sorry, this isn't Enemy Territory. This is Quake 4 MP. The real Quake 4's MP is going to be like Quake 3, so in order to make a Quake 4 based MP, they did this shit.

the game is called Enemy Terrioty: Quake Wars. its a sequel to Enemy Territory. are you telling me there will be no simmilarities? this isnt re inventing the wheel here.

it might not be free but they might make a version of the game that is free like a multiplayer demo.

Will this game have objectives, like Wolfenstien ET?

Yes, that's the whole point of it being called Enemy Territory. It will have main objectives in a series as well as optional side objectives that will aid in the completion of the main of objective.

WolfET and Quake Wars unrelated

"It has nothing to do with Wolf. The "Enemy Territory" name is due to
Splash Damage's multiplayer design skills being the drive behind the
game. There could be other ET games in the future in different settings."

The thought of RTCW 2 makes me dizzy with excitement :)
