I recently downloaded the beta? of Quake Wars (demo) and so far i think its a cool game, enjoy it alot!!

Just wondering on what the rest of you think (if you have played it).

Moved to general games. I heard it sucked the big one, though I didn't play myself.

It is nothing special. Too much spray and pray, chunky movement. More swarm and not enough skill/teamwork.

True, but its enjoyable.

Probably why i like it, i know there is barely team work, in one game i had to switch from 3 classes and do all the work myself lool

you're not doing it right, a skilled team that works together wins every time ...and switching classes? why would you stick with one class? I play almost every class throughout each round

at first I didnt enjoy the game ..especially since they had mucked up the classic gameplay from rtcw: et ..but it's since grown on me and it's all I've been playing for the past few weeks ...there's just so much to do in game besides running and gunning

It has alot more things to do than Counter-Strike: Source!!!

pong has more things to do than counterstrike source ....ok I exagerate but that's really a bad comparison ..the game plays more like a fps strategy game

different ..the vehicles really change things up ..but there's still the nderlying gameplay there ..it's just that it's no longer focused on close combat

As it is, I quite like it. It's a good bit of fun.

But I bet when I've fully worked out the capabilities of each class, and the things they can do together, I'll like it a lot more. I'll play it at a LAN cafe with loads of friends and start properly co-ordinating things. As it is I'm tentatively exploring the possibilities the game has to offer but mainly sticking to playing basic shooty classes. RTCW was ace.

Feels like shit, plays like shit. With all the great mp games coming out or already out. This is going to be left in the dust.

QW isn't as good as rtcw imo, but still a very decent game. It's nice and quick, has good on foot combat (an area that the Battlefield series has always been absolutely awful in), and very solid objectove based gameplay. It's less accessible than BF, but certainly has more focus on teamplay, more involved gameplay and takes more skill to be good at (you have to actually be able to aim ;)). It will be a far better competitive game.

It's a pretty good game. I enjoy playing it, but I couldn't play it constantly..*then again, I'm into TF2 right now...* The game is pretty solid and fun. Only problem is some people won't like it because it's not your usual run and gun. You have objectives and all sorts of things to do...makes it that much more fun to me.

lol asuka and samon have said it's crap so it must be :p

It's a great game. Simple as that.

I never got into the whole BF-mania, but QW captivates me to no end. Gameplay is fluid and fun, each class is balanced against each other and as useful as each other.

However, it takes time to to fully understand the potential and get out of the "single-class-player" mentality. In QW you don't run around the battlefield as a sniper for half a day taking pot shots at enemy vehicles when the need comes. Instead you adapt to the changes and change from engineer to covert ops to soldier.

It's quite fun, but I have to say the fact that they went for a Teen rating and didn't include any blood or gibs kind of kills the Quake atmosphere for me.

Shame.

The Strogg are gross enough. Needs no comical gibs.

Enemy Territory is a Quake game? you could have fooled me because it feels nothing like any Quake game

..when they announced it was set in the quake universe I thought it was a poor choice as previous games are almost the exact opposite of QW ..in fact I forget it's a quake game

ya gibbing would be great ..part of the appeal of RTCW was making someone into a fine bloody mist

All the style, charm and humour of RTCW:ET is nowhere to be found in ET:QW resulting in another forgetable cookie cutter Battlefield clone.

Bah, I read cake wars, silly eyes.

All the style, charm and humour of RTCWT is nowhere to be found in ET: QW resulting in another forgetable cookie cutter Battlefield clone.

Oh there's cookies, that's not so bad then.

cookie cutter clone of battlefield 2? have you even played the game ? the only thing that resembles bf2 is the fact that Enemy terroitory has vehicles

RTCW had style, charm and humour? Can you send me your version which contains that?

I'll agree with Stern, it is like BF2 because it's got wide open maps...and guns...and some vehicles. I fail to see anything else.

Just for the record, I love both games. :D

I found it to be pretty enjoyable. With all the AAA games coming out though, Ill let this one pass for now....

Have a guess what I think ;) great teamplay game with loads going on, and its out in a week.

Woot Woot!

umm rtcw and rtcw: et are not the same game

Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory are not the same game ...and what humour? rtcw was a free multiplayer game that used the same classes as rtcw, added a few more and changed maps to be entirely objective based

I still didn't see any style, charm and humour.

Yes, aside from being an Enemy Territory game, Quake Wars is indeed a Quake game, and even handles like one in many respects. I guess the Teen rating is part of competing for the large scale Multiplayer PC FPS market - if you look at all the recent best sellers in this genre they are all Teen rated and feature dumbed down violence. I hate having no visible indication that I've damaged an enemy whatsoever.

It's okay...

The horrid optimization is what -really- killed it for me.

My rig completely shits all over the game and yet it has very frequent stuttering, and what the **** is up with vehicles? They could've added some slightly realistic touches to the vehicles.
Tanks have insta-turret turning and handle like a dream, which is bad...
Aircraft ****ing suck, they go down way too easily.

Ffs, vehicles just plain suck ass, would've been better just having jeeps for transportation around the maps.

I think from a few plays, what kills it for me is the speed people move at.

The last FPS game I really enjoyed in MP was prob GRAW and that had a much slower yet somewhat more intense feel.

Tanks are a little floaty too.

I pretty much play it religiously. Good thing is none of the stuff hasn`t been nerfed in the demo- killing different things actually takes some effort, and I love the fast action.
when maxed out it looks gorgeous. The classes, weapons and all the gadgets are just awesome.
I have it preordered so obviously I chose Excellent Game.
Only thing I miss is the gore and violence that goes along with Quake games.

RTCW had oodles of charm and style - more than any other online fps I can think of. The dark, almost DC comic, Nazis and square jawed GIs battling it out across a series excellently suited maps. Everything about RTCW screamed Indiana Jones. Awesome game.

43 kills in a single round last night ..maybe 3-4 of those were with a gun ..the majority were strogg defenses: anti-vehicle/anti-personnel turrents

you dont have to play this game as a traditional mp fps

Exactly my point - shame some guys 'missed' out on all that.

I must've overlooked it as I cringed at the inaccuracies in uniforms and general comic aesthetic.
