Engine Error Platform Error: module failed to intialize

Hey there,

I am getting the following error whenever I attempt to start half life 2 or half life 2 deathmatch. Any idea what might be causing this error?

i also have this problem

hl2:deathmatch was crashing after every map change so
I deleted 4 files from the steam folder

ClientRegistry.blob
Steam.dll
steamclient.dll
SteamUI.dll

and let steam update these when reconnecting again and since i have done that i get this same error

my computer specs:
windows vista 32-bit
2.0ghz intel core
2gb ram
nvidia geforce go 7400
