Engine Error: Synergy

I downloaded Synergy to play with a friend today.
It downloaded fine and when I went to start it, it showed the first loading screen then went immediately back to my desktop.

A pop-up had come up. This is what it says (entirely):

Engine Error
MountFileSystem( 221 ) failed: SteamMountFilesystem(1344,221,0x1bf5fd64=,0x1bf5fc54) failed with error 106: Failed to resize the cache file


Any help anyone?

1.try verifying files
2.check that other source games are working properly.
3.confirm that you have source sdk base/orange box base
4.i believe some mods require you to at least open up hl2 once.
