Its been a while since I've been on holiday, so I'm leaving for New York with a couple of friends on the 26th of December and returning 2nd of January. It will be my first time in the States, so I need some tips and ideas where to visit (in New York that is). I'll be doing all the normal touristy things such as visiting Empire State Building, Time Square (will be there on New Years Eve :D)), central park and some parts of Brookyln etc.

I'm tempted to visit a near-by city outside New York for a day, maybe Philidelphia or Boston..? Probably Philidelphia, since I've heard Boston is a clean version of England.

Yeah, so what places shall I visit? While I'm there, I might hijack some cars since I saw it in the GTA4 trailer.

He's Harryz man.

Couldn't help you though. Never been that far east.

New Yorkers refer to someone like you as "Fresh Meat"

actually brits are well liked (at least in canada, which surprisingly enough isnt in New york) ..not too mention women like the accent (I cannot emphasize this enough: USE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!!! "Hi my name is Harry, I'm next in line to the throne (once I get rid of Willy)"

Haha, Boston... clean... *sigh* Anyways, don't come here, it's nothing great, and the bars close @ 2am. Public transport shuts down @ 12:45am. There's some historically significant stuff, but, it'll be cold and so are the people.

I've only been to Philly's airport, so I can't comment on that...but, I'm guessing it's got to be better than Boston.

(Of course, Boston's not too horrible...it's just not exactly a "world-class" city--despite what our mayor thinks).

Anyways, safe travels, and have as much fun as you can! :D

And yes, women love the accent.

Oo.. Canada! You could try going up there! I've heard it's nice there too! I've never met a Canadian I didn't like, in fact, I might move there if the elections go poorly here!

New York is the best city in the world, you'll love it.

Since when was the British accent a hit with women? WHY WASN'T I TOLD EARLIER!

Hmmm, I think I'll go to Philly and may pop down to Boston if I have time. Canada was on my list if I was going for more than a week, but sadly thats not the case. I'm hoping to go to Canada sometime in the next year or so.

I live an hour away from both NYC and Philadelphia, and while I never have any desire whatsoever to go to Philly, there's actually quite a lot of touristy and historical stuff to see there. And a zoo. When in New York, I really recommend the Met. And there's a disabled veteran dude out front there who sells awesome hot dogs.

to prevent brits from emmigrating to the new world and taking away our women /shakes fist in general direction of Big Ben

there's a new employee here at work and she's average looks, cute but not striking ..she has an australian accent and all of the sudden the guys in the office find her attractive (some of the female staff too) when they probably wouldnt have said anything if she didnt have the accent

oh it's not all brit accents, more hugh grant than chav ghetto speak

By Met do you mean Metropolitan Museum of Art? My architecture friend has already insisted we go there the first day.

I'm closer to Mr. Grant's accent than a chav.

Never realised how minuscule Manhattan is compared to New York state. In spirit of New York, I'm making my way through several New York movies tonight, Manhattan and Once Upon a Time in America.:D
