Wikipedia said:Thousands of Enron employees and investors lost their life savings, children's college funds, and pensions when Enron collapsed. A lawsuit on the behalf of a group of Enron's shareholders has been filed against Enron executives and directors. This lawsuit accuses twenty-nine of these executives and directors of insider trading and misleading the public.
Because the 401(k) plan is a defined contribution plan, there was no PBGC insurance and employees lost the money they invested in Enron stock. They could only sue those considered a fiduciary for breach of their duty of care based on ERISA Section 404.
Hahaha! Yeah, tell that to these guys.15357 said:Well, from what I can tell, this guy was actually trying to save Enron by getting more investments, but failed and was labeled the super bad guy.
So did Hitler...:dozey:Vass said:He seemed like a great guy when he wasn't screwing people over.

Oh, yeah. So, they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway.Hapless said:Well, the European swallow is non-migratory, that's my point.

Haha you got owned by the justice system.theotherguy said:...this thread has gone downhill.
Kenneth lay deserved his prison sentence, he died a peaceful death as a billionare, and that is not fair at all. I would have prefered him getting shanked after a year in prison. :|
Nope doctors say it was artery disease or whatever.Zombie said:Maybe I'm just cold hearted, but I don't really feel bad, but you could probably say some random guy in Arkansas died of herpes, and I'd feel the same apathy.
Still, it's probably what my choice would have been.
Assuming he commited suicide. 150+ years in jail? No thanks.
You are incredibly wrong. If you ever get the chance(or anyone else who doesnt know much about this whole Enron fiasco) rent a movie called "Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room".15357 said:Well, from what I can tell, this guy was actually trying to save Enron by getting more investments, but failed and was labeled the super bad guy.
I might be wrong though.
Hmmm.......Lay developed ties with former president George Bush, played golf with president Bill Clinton, and contributed generously to
President George W. Bush's 2000 campaign, as well as his earlier campaign for Texas governor in 1993.
lolFormer Enron chief Ken Lay dead - Yahoo!
He did a lot of illegal stuff, which is why he faces 150 years in jail. If he was just a lousy CEO who mismanaged his company into bankruptcy he wouldnt be facing jailtime.15357 said:Well, from what I can tell, this guy was actually trying to save Enron by getting more investments, but failed and was labeled the super bad guy.

Yep. They weren't trying to save the company, they were trying to keep the stock simply afloat by lying about the company's profits so they could get all of their money out before they released the real info and let it collapse on everyone else.AiM said:Save Enron by misleading the public with incorrect finances all the while he was doing insider trading so they top head honchos came out with all the money. Lots of people lost their life savings just so these assholes could make a couple more bucks, real nice guy there.

Hahaha! I guess you could look at it like he did everyone in the future a large favor by being so devious and getting caught and exposed (even though that probably wasn't his intention). Now we have Sarbanes-Oxley and the like to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again. It is horrible for those who got screwed, but much better for everyone in the future.15357 said:Yeah, well, the opinions at the Korean article of this says things along the lines of: "A sad loss. The US has lost a person who made economic achievements for it."
Yeah. You can see why I thought that. I guess I'm (and the few hundred people that posted that ) were wrong. :/
