I just got a Special Edition Halo XBOX (very cool), and it came with the omnipresent Halo and Enter the Matrix. I can return Enter the Matrix for any of a select group of games, but the only one I care about is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King.

I looked up reviews for both, and neither seem to be overwhelmingly wonderful. A lot of people hate ETM, but a lot of people love it too. Return of the King has gotten more steadily average reviews.

So from your experience, should I keep ETM, or return it for ROTK?

Discuss.

Return of the King got very good reviews, much better than ETM.. which is arse.

I've played both :)

hurry up and play ETM so you can watch all the little extra tid bits that were supposed to be in the film, return it and get RoTK.

If only I could, but Target won't accept open returns.

well then i guess it comes down to which you'll get more out of. ETM you're most likely to play once through and throw the thing away. you're likely to spend more time on RoTK and more than likely to play it through a couple of times.

happy gaming.

What you do is take it back and claim it to be broken, and you'd like a replacement.. once you get the replacement, you take the unopened copy to a BestBuy or Circuit City, claim you lost the receipt, and request a store credit :)

I've never actually DONE that, but it seems like it'd work.. in theory (prolly get in trouble if you were caught cheating the system)

I use to do stuff like that, Best Buy won't take games without a receipt.

I'd certainly go for ROTK, especially if you're a fan. (Ph33r Gandalf's pulse rifle!)

Hhmmm...Xbox, eh? Go for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow...or even Ninja Gaiden. Both Return of the King and Enter the Matrix blow big time, in my opinion.

Wal-Mart will, as long as they carry the SKU in their inventory. I do that with DVD's I order online. If I get one I didn't want, or it's damaged, I take it to Wal-Mart instead of shipping it back to where I bought it.

We're talking cheepo, freebie, came with the game, limited number of selections to choose from. I'm getting Pandora Tomorrow for the PC, and I'll get Ninja Gaiden at some point.

Enter the matrix was kinda fun. Everything in it was bordered the line between OK and a good waste of a few hours.
Except, there is one big level that's insanely amusing. I mean amusing to the max.
So, I'd pick it up if you can find it for around ten bucks.
I wouldn't spend much more than that though.

I haven't played RotK.

ETM is shit. i played it on my mates GC and its appauling. i was supposed to press a switch to open the door, but the trigger dissapeared- so i ran around for ages and then finally it worked when i pressed the switch for the 500th time. Plus its been stuck together in 5 minutes, some of the demo clips are ****ed up. and the fightings not even very good- you punch sometone and your fist goes a metre through your enemies face, and doesnt register the hit, so they are unharmed. poor.

i havent played ROTK but im willing to bet anything that its better than ETM. the "filmed" clips arent any good either- they dont show anything interesting- all i saw was gost and naiomi talking.

A note - ROTK is much better with a friend, so if you have one go for that.

Ok then, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell...if you don't already have it.

Nope, got that for the PC. It's great.

Hmmm..., no one seems to like either game that much, so maybe I should just return it and put 20 bucks towards something else...

Then...I'm suspecting Doom III or...even Half Life 2, if you haven't already pre-ordered it.

Nope, those are best on the PC.

I'm thinking Ninja Gaiden would be really good, from what I've heard.
Mainly, the XBOX seems to be good mainly for the games that are coming, not for those that are already out there.

Jade Empire, Fable, Halo 2, UC2, all can't be found on a PC.

That's what I meant, THE PC!

Anyway, for the Xbox get Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge. I think that's only $19.99, if I'm correct.

I don't think ROTK is a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, but we don't exactly know what you yourself like. If you want a decent game where you basicly run around doing cool stuff and killing about a billion Orcs with a friend then its for you.

When you go back to the store or whatever for your game. Make sure you get Star Wars - Knights of the Old Republic. I'm not even a Star Wars fan but I consider that game the 2nd best RPG ever.

Super Mario RPG being the first. :p
Now lets see the 2 or 3 of you thats play SMRPG respond.

i loved ETM, thought it was great

ill put my flame suit on :(

Sorry to say this but you sound like a total n00b to the game haha, I am not trying to make fun of you but there are a ton of moves in that game, some a lot harder to do then others. But the game still sucks.

Oh, don't worry, I've already beaten that on the PC, and its genius.

And I love SMRPG, too. Paper Mario just didn't compare...

Like I said, everyone either loves ETM or hates it.
Everyone seems to agree on ROTK's generally average nature, though.

There's one level where you fight the 'vampires'. I found it to be hyper-fun. You actually got to use those dozens of normally useless moves, mostly because they were the only guys who didn't die from a single attack.

If the entire game was just an extended version of that sequence, it would have been great, instead of just quasi-mediocre. It was the only part of the game that compared to the movies in good action.

Waitaminute: Xbox? Do you have Soul Calibur 2?
That's the best game I've played in recent memory.

Ninja Gaiden is awesome, although I think it's more of a rental kind of a rental game unless you're reall ywanting the online capabilities (non-existent at the moment was it?) The game itself is pretty darn cool and managed to stay fun the whole time, I was able to beat it in 2 or 3 days. I didn't like the ending, kinda thrown together I thought and it made close to no sense at all.

Oh yeah, everyone who played SMRPG knows it. ;)

No way - Paper Mario was far better :)

SMRPG was cool but SoM/FF6/Chrono Trigger were all better snes rpgs imo. Paper Mario was just excellent, the sequal looks even better \o/

Don't get me started on Chrono Trigger...

BEST GAME EVER!!!

Chrono Trigger:sniper: Everything Else

get ninja gaiden.

of course, my opinion is slightly biased, because i am a ninja, but that is probably one of/the best x-box-only game there is.

He already mentioned that that isn't an option though. :b

Now for an amazing plot twist:

Turns out my parents are wrong. The game wasn't Return of the King, it's that terrible LOTR Fellowship of the Rings game. So I guess I'll be entering the matrix after all...

LOTR:FOTR is WAY WAY WAY better then people say it is, I know it blows and is one of the worse games I have played but it still isn't as bad as people say. But get ETM fo shizzle....my nizzle.
