Epic buys out Reality

It's a harsh world out there, did they say what the price tag was?

Smart move, but I doubt it would have made a decent competitor to UE3 in the first place.

Ye it was a very smart move by Epic but I did feel that the Reality Engine was just a bunch of technolgoies pushed together rather than an all round powerful engine. I am not to sure really as I have no clue about the technical side. But anyway it will only mean the Unreal Engine updates will be even better. So its all good.

how does this mean unreal engine updates will be better?

because they'll integrate the parts of Reality that they like into UE3, as well as gaining the extra engine developers.

But then it would be implemented before release, so it wouldn't affect updates, right?
Except for the extra dev muscle...

I assume Ichi meant the updates to developers.

do these people have no souls, Meh I guess its better off this way right.?

Features: You certainly get what you pay for. Everything you need and will ever need. Better than unreal in my opinion

I think proffessional developers where favouring it over the unreal engine, Epic felt threatened they would loose a substancial sector of the market, so what do you do when you have the power.... Assimilate :borg:

craXXors!! They got Pw3nd !!11!

Sorry, practicing my L33T language

Reality obviously felt the same way about it otherwise they would've said no if they thought the engine was going to be massive. Either way, its sad, UE3 will be amazing but i don't want to see every game on it.

Please god, make sure they implement real-time networked level editing in UE3 then!

Reality Engine had a ton of neat features in it (networked level editing was a huge one), so Epic did a good job, now my two favorite engines, "merged" (I guess) into one for the ultimate next-gen engine that I know of!
