Episode 1: Need help in the dark elevator room

Hello - I finally finished Half Life 2 (thanks to you all )and recently started playing Episode 1. I am stuck in the level where I am in a dark room and need to activate an elevator. I don't know how to do this. Either my flashlight runs out of batteries or I run out of ammo !!

Are there any tricks to doing this ??

(This is by far the toughest challenge I have encountered in the HL2 series so far !!)

you need to turn on the power. if your standing at the elevator the go left and walk forward then you will find the the power switch. if the power is already on then you need to call the elevator and wait for it.

But don't stand still and wait. First, after i died i reloaded before turning on the elevator and broke all the supply crates i could find to make a stash of health and ammo. Then I just ran like a crazy person, shooting at shadows and lobbing flares, bricks and grenades pretty much constantly. But keep your eye on the elevator: as soon as the doors open you're gonna want to rush in there. :thumbs:

What with the downgrade thanks to Steam this part is now pretty easy. Just keep moving, making sure to grab flares and let your flashlight recharge, whilst punching shotgun shells or bricks into zombie faces.

No worries, they're going to put in a hard mode for games already released.

I mean a *real* hard mode.

I wish that they hadn't done the downgrade, it was much better when there were more.

I hope they don't start doing a bunch of pansy shit like that with Episode 2 and future games...
