Episode 2 Performance Problem.

So I'm running HL2:EP2 normally at medium settings (1024x768) and right when I get to the part where

the vortigaunts turn purple and start healing Alyx, and the G-Man appears

the game runs at like 1 frame per 3 seconds, the sound stutters and later goes off, and the whole scene runs really slow so that when I move my mouse to look around, it takes quite a while to point to where I move the mouse at.

I've tried running different DirectX levels and lowering all the settings, verified the game cache files, and nothing seems to work.

Right now I'm defragging the files. Will this work? Any ideas?

I fixed the problem. For anyone experiencing the same problem just go to Steam, select HL2-EP2>Properties>Set Launch Options>-heapsize 256000
