Episode One graphics are messed up?

hello i just got HL2:Episode One today and i just tried it out. the thing is there is something wrong with the graphics in my game. here are some screenies of it:

there they are. also its not just in that room that the walls and stuff are all messed up, its all over the place. also some objects are invisible; like you have Alyx typing on nothing (when she's meant to be typing on a keyboard) and stuff like that.

Here are my specs:
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz
1024MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 128MB
DirectX 9.0c

Is it getting hot? Make sure air can get to the vents.
Looks like gfx card memory corruption or something to me.

I guess you could try a driver update or rollback if it isn't heat.

Or if you changed gfx settings but did not restart the game sometimes you will get that.
 
I had / am having the exact same problem! I noticed that when I changed the shader option to high half of the graphic anomalies changed back to normal but there are still invisible objects. Hope that helps a little and tell me if you find out how to make it work!

um i've installed the game on my pc and my laptop and its doing it on both of them.
here's my pc's specs:
intel pentium 4 2.67GHz
ATI Radeon 9200TV 128MB
512MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c

as u can see they're not very much the same so its wierd that the same problem is happening on both. anyway i will try out ur suggestion tttttt and see what happens. thx for the help anyway man


UPDATE: i just played it again and pressed the console button and have a look at this:

there were tons more errors than just those ones too. ttttttt have a look at ur console and see if it has the same message
 
If a verify doesnt work, delete the files and redownload the whole deal as a last resort.
 
umm i d/led Steam and installed it but it came up with this message:

now i cant get into it. and i re-installed it but it came up with that message again. does anyone know what this is?
 
Not that i'm accusing anyone with anything , but the problem of the missing textures and invisible objects is one which mostly happens for people who pirate the game and their video card doesn't support dx9.
 
sry to burst ur bubble but i didnt pirate the game. i prolly wouldnt know how. anyway my card does support dx9 coz in the dxdiag thingy it says its compatible with it.

UPDATE: ooh i forgot to say i got the game off my best friend who got it yesterday. he brought it over to my place which was the first time we actually tried it and thats when we noticed the wierd things.

Hang on, If you`d only just downloaded Steam and installed it, how could you be running Episode 1 in the first place? I`ll tell you, your running ProVisions version, I know, cos I`ve got it, I`ve also got the original which this does not happen in.

I`m all for using ProVision Rips when the person has payed paid out for the game and just deosn`t want to use Steam, but it`s quite clear in this case you have not bought it.

So stop crapping us that you`ve not pirated it when that a pirate version flaw, and no I won`t help you until you actually buy the proper version first.
 
you usually see those purple textures when a model/shader is missing from the map. so as stemot said you probably pirated it or you just need to do a reload of the game

I have the legal version of HL 2 but recently two square areas in Red letter day started to appear plain white. Anyone know why?
 
Not sure..Try restarting the chapter over?

And I can sense a locking soon...
 
No, I've tried that a dozen times. The centre of Kleiner's lab is destined to be white :( Woe is me!
 
Have you verified the game files? Post your system specs here and your video driver along with the version.

I just verified it and voila! Fixed!! :)

(I forgot - It's been almost two years since I last verified the game files :bounce:).
 
valve says lodas times, ddont buy the game from ebay, u know why. people use the serial and cd is useless.

u didnt even get a legit game, thats most definalty pirated.(ur erros are displaying that of a pirated game)

go away. buy the game for yourself. comeback when youve played this legend of an episode

The checkered pattern you see is missing texture...that is why you listen to bigburpco bigburpco and "...VERIFY YOUR..." game cache.
